I just finished part of my tyranid army and am wondering what people think. I am open to any painting/modeling suggestions you have to offer.

Very very nice , the subtle and natural high lights goes with the color scheme extremely well.

It might benefit more if you use orange to yellow ish to high light the green instead of light green though. As you already know ( since you are using yellow dots ) to bring contrast to the model.

8/10 Unique color scheme, looks really nice too!

*edit, i really like the purple, tips for how you did it?

and WELCOME! to Dakka*2

Very nice army. Some brighter pictures would do it justice, though!

Purple & white is a very effective colour scheme. Love the carnifex...

Not a colour scheme I would go for but a very nice over all appaerence. Might have used the spikey Carnifex carapace for the Tyrant Guards but this is just a style question.

Standing right behind you...

Agreed with Luna that it should be yellow instead of green, but other than that its a very nice and cleanly painted army; congrats.

I'd really like to see some better pics too!
On some models I can hardly tell if the bases are painted or black! I'm assuming the rims are graveyard earth or snakebite leather???
It really goes to show how washed out the photos are which is a shame.

Love the tyrant guard. They actually look big enough to protect/draw fire from a Tyrant. Great work.

I really like how that white contrasts the darker purple. The models look really good.
How did you make those tyrant guard? The crushing claws, carapaces and heads are obviously from the carnifexes, but what about the legs and torsos?
I have to agree that the spore cysts don't really make the guard threatening, thornback carapaces would've probably been a bit better. Nevertheless, I really dig the conversions. That's a very imaginative way to use those extra carnifex parts.
I'd like a closer pic of the Trygon though, that thing makes for a great centerpiece.

Those are excellent!
I think you should kept the green, but whiten the teeth slightly to make their maws stand out against their carapace's.
I hope you post a battle report with them on the field, with pictures.

To all, thankyou for the compliments. I will be taking better quality pics in my friends basement/photo studio. The tyrant guard are tyranid warriors converted with extra plates, carnifex heads, and claws. Ill be sure to take extra pictures of them. I used lich purple mixed with white as a base and then used leviathan purple wash to shade. The final highlight was a 50:50 mix of white and lich purple. I just got a hierophant bio titan and will post pics.

London (work) / Pompey (live, from time to time)

love the colour scheme.
just a note on the big bug, ive seen alot of them snap at either the leg joints to the body, and at the tips of the talons due to thier bad balance (heavy center section)
it might be worth putting it on a large base to fit the legs on, and a slightly larger support in the center.
