I can do basics on my bike, but for complex stuff, or any work on my wife's trike I take 'em in for some one else to deal with.

Not enough time or skill...

Chicago

Obviously me, as I brought it up.

Got my first bike two months after graduating college and landing a job - '97 Fatboy. Rode it from Chicago to Charlotte, and later to Tulsa - thing vibrated like crazy.

Got a '00 Heritage after they redesigned the softtail engines, my wife and I took that one to Yellowstone for our honeymoon, among other places.

Traded in for a bagger before our last trip, to Death Valley and the Grand Canyon.

I'm more of a rider than a mechanic though. I can do basic things, but I'll go to a dealer for anything complex.

Hey, the pic of my bike was deleted from my gallery. Did I break some rule by posting it there?

Edit: I guess it was not related to wargaming...

The land of cotton.

Been riding and working on bikes for years. Currently I'm doing track days when the weather is nice.

Tune-ups, suspension work, and maintenance is all done by myself. I'll take something in if it needs major work (like a tranny or engine rebuild, dyno tuning and the like) but otherwise I know my way around a workbench.

I took my current track bike and stripped it down from street trim, replacing the stock bodywork with fiberglass.

Current ride:

I've had my share of bikes:

82 Yamaha XS650J
81 Honda CM5400T
93 Yamaha Seca II
02 Suzuki Bandit 1200S
04 Suzuki SV650S
05 Kawasaki Z1000
04 Yamaha R6
01 Aprilia Futura
03 Aprilia Tuono (track bike in pic above)
07 Aprilia Tuono R (current street bike)

CptJake -- looks good When I can afford a second bike, I'm going to go with a custom, but for now, I do too much distance riding to have anything stripped down.

One of my most fun scoots was a '99 Vmax. That thing had some GO in it.

This one is a beast, but does not have quite the oompf the Vmax did.

My wife ride a triked Goldwing 1800.

We've had several bikes throgh the years, mostly standards and cruisers, but a dual sport slid in at one point. She wants to get a Ducati monster or some BMW dual sport next, I'm looking at a Rocker or the new Vmax... We'll see. Those are a year or two away at lest right now.

The Monster is a good bike, especially if you get the bigger motor. Lots of good accessories for 'em too.

Dual sport... meh. I don't like getting dirty.

I'd pimp a new V-Max for the street. They look like great commuters and bike night bikes. Hell, who wouldn't love 197 hp?!? They are awfully proud of them though.
