Heya!

Iam having problems finding a good skin tone for my imperial missionarys, so any tips of how to paint "human" skin so it looks good and not like...well crap, would be great!

Photos of reference would be even better, so i know what the end result should look like

My templars aren't showing much skin but I use bronzed flesh over a beastial brown undercoat and highlight it with elf flesh then coat the recesses with sepia wash.

here's how i do skin , black undercoath
-tanned flesh ---> 2 thin coaths
-wathered down dark flesh wash
-1st highlight tanned flesh
-2nd dwarf flesh
-3th elf flesh
-mix of bleached bone and regal blue wash in eye sockets
-mix of bleached bone and red gore wash in mouth area
-final highlight with bleached bone ----> set tone of face how strong this highlight is
then the eyes , start with black in eye socket
-then make a small white eye
-then finally the black dot for the eye
you can do some more detail with painting the teeth bleached bone first and highlight with white
if it's a male model you can give him a unshaven look , by adding some grey tones on he's chin

Any tips on darker skin tones?

Specifically I'd like to try my hand at painting some black skins tones, from some lighter browns to darker blacks?
