Uh, how am I supposed to get around this? A ten-man squad from Forgeworld costs $70 AU! Christ, I can't afford an army like that, but Death Korps are my one and only love when it comes to IG. Anyone know of a cheap solution?

Note: Alternate minis might not work, because they can't really capture the Death Korps look.

Edit: Would the Steel Legion be a healthy alternative? I wouldn't have to order from Forgeworld, and they look more or less the same.

Steel legion is $35 for 10 guys, $17 for a different heavy weapon, and $8 for a different special weapon (all USD). Not much cheaper than DKoK.

There's no cheap Death Korps alternative, unless you hunt for non-GW stuff.

Steel Legion are $60 here (for 10 guys), but I won't have to order them in from overseas. I'm not too keen on non-GW models, because I have to order them online, which has resulted in a fair few scams in the past.

Id say the cheapest would be to build them yourself. Ive seen some pretty bad ass pigiron heads that look rather DKOK. And Im sure you can find a similar body style in the guard.

If you look in my gallery you can see that I converted some cadians with greenstuff and pig iron heads to get a greatcoat/gasmask look. DKoK is too expensive and the models don't fit in with other 40k models so well in my opinion.

There was that one company that takes interest orders online for plastics that was doing scifi greatcoat infantry. Wargames foundry or something.

Sadly their stuff isn't quite as detailed as the Death Korps models, but could form the basis for them.

I would say if you don't wanna pay so much go with the steel legion(even though the death korps rocks!!!).As you with the DKOK will also have to pay shipping costs,but if you want to build them yourself maybe you could just some how make the coats the steel legion wear and extended them.

Um, let me be the first in this thread to say that your greatcoat IG with Pig Iron heads are pretty awesome, ph34r.

But the Death Korps models are so nice... I'm considering holding off on replacing my iPod to get me some of these. I wouldn't be able to replicate them with greenstuff. I'm a terrible modeler.

The only advice i have is either get them from ebay, or buy them with your friends and get the free shipping.

If only you lived in Albion; I have two squads of DK which I'll never use.
