Brisbane, Australia

So we had another one...

Labour won again

What do my fellow Queenslanders / Aussies / others think

I think that if it's not f***** then leave it alone... if you change Governent just to keep the Oposition in a job, then it's for the wrong reason. It takes years to recover from just a change of Party, let alone recover from a serious messup.

The only major culprit that surfaces is the Public health / Hospital system, and in Queensland it has been behind the rest of Australia (except for research) for many many years and under both party leaderships, so why bother now... because the Oposition wants their job back.

Only hopeful political candidates have the pubic in mind... the actual politicians in power only care about the voters who vote to keep them in power long enough to get the big fat payout.

Thats my 2 cents worth

Mik

Stress… is when you wake up screaming and realise you haven't fallen asleep yet.

It is not necessary to understand things in order to argue about them.

Forever alone

The important thing to mention is that Australia now has a female state leader.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

We've had a couple before, but this is the first time a woman has won an election. I don't know enough about Qld politics to know who was the best winner, but it's nice to see a little boundary like that crossed.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

Toowoomba, Australia

Its pathetic.

The labor party in Queensland are a bunch of corrupt (Mike Kaiser, chief of staff to the premier was jailed for election fraud, and former minister Gordon Nuttall was found guilty of corruption... Bligh even changed the laws so that his lying in parliament wouldn't have hime charged with further offences) no hopers (Look at where health is, not to mention 74 billion dollars of debt at the end of a huge economic boom).

I cannot fathom how you can justify keeping these losers in power because 'the opposition isn't qualified', by that reasoning there would never be a change of power.

My view (if you haven't picked up already) is that a thousand monkeys typing on typewriters would make a better job of running the govt than the current bunch.

And sucked in to Ronan Lee for leaving labor to join the greens and then getting thrashed by the LNP.
