I need help deigning a base for someone special...

I just made a custom unit and I made a base for him...

and it's currently unfinished...

but I feel it isnt good enough...

any suggestions for the design for this guy?

P.S. he's the most recent upload in CSMs and there are other angles to see what his base looks like...

The hood looks a tad thick but dammit that is one awesome lord... or whatever hes suppose to be. I think the base is a bit static. Either put some debris/dead things type deal one there or... someone on here can tell you a few sites that sell pretty nice bases. I dont know the addresses tho

I'm guessing he's not glued to the base? If not, then get a Dreadnought base, bigger one of these rocks, then split it in 2 and have lava at the bottom and something nearly dead trying to climb out (a Guardsman pops into mind).

I do agree the hood is a tad thick...

but like I said it's my first attempt at a customized lord...

it's played as huron blackheart... so he needs to be on a small base if I want to play him...

but I guess if I wanted to...

I could do it bigger just for looks....

Awesome conversion idea.

You may want to go back and redo the hood once you get a better hang of sculpting cloth. Otherwise it looks ace.

Wow! The scythe is amazing! As far as the base goes, definately needs to be bigger (wider), maybe not dreadnaught size but the 40mm bases should be your friend on this one. Also, Lava is your friend. I think I can see a pipe or tube of some sort on that base, and unless the rest of your army is based in an industrial/cityfight theme, I'd advise going for an au naturale rocky outcropping with some skulls and hot lava for good measure. Hope that helps!

I think if we were aloud to use snake mountain as bases for minis...

we would need alot bigger game tables....

cause everyone in my army would have one...

Maybe model some skeletons climbing up the base.

Biz, thats an awesome idea... Model some bones either lying around the base or trying to climb up onto that block thing, also make the block look like a sacrificial table

If you have dawn of war I think modeling a base after the sacrificial circle would be nice with a skeleton on a chaos icon hanging off the side and him standing on an icon.

First, good job on your first converted lord. It's not super amazing, but for your first job, it's pretty damn good.

What is the theme for your army? You base, should reflect your theme, imo.
