Ok so I did a search here and everything I found was pretty old.
SO my wife wants to play Dark Eldar and Im happy about this BUT the problem is I dont want to plunk down some cash just to find out they are going with the squats.
SO Dark Eldar, in? Out? Whats the story with these things?!

Well the rumors go that its a work in progress on making a new codex, new models etc... but there is no exact time frame (except for speculations).
I really don't think there going to go the way of the squats any time soon.

They will probably get a new codex within the next couple years, and it seems unlikely that they will be cut altogether.

From what I have heard from a number of sources, Jess Goodwin has already finished the models (or at least some of them) and they are meant to be pretty fantastic.

Hopefully they get released soon. If the get Wood Elf'd, as we have been hearing, I imagine that they will sell like hot cakes. They have a very competetive list, the models are just gakky.

Seems to me you loose, no matter what. Consider:

1) If the DE don’t get updated soon, you are buying (online) old, ugly models and using a 10 year old codex.
2) If the DE do get updated (in a year or two), you will have bought (online) old, ugly models and a 10 year old codex, all of which will be shortly replaced with something you would rather have.
3) If the DE never get updated (and the fact that some models were sculpted does not guarantee a revival), you will have bought (online) old, ugly models and a 10 year old codex that will fade away.

Man, I played DE for 5 yeas, and got tired of no new models, no new background, and a Codex “update” that amounted to two or three new sentences. So, I sold them, and that was five years ago. BTW, the DE are not an ideal beginner’s army.

I'm going to assume that you are genuine in your query, which is a little tough to swallow given the sheer number of Dark Eldar threads we've had started in the last few months.

But anyway, try your search again. Skip past the initial results and you'll see at least a half dozen threads about the Dark Eldar from earlier this year.

I'm locking this thread because all available information has been discussed ad nauseam already in those other threads.
