Ok i have never played Tau before but i have watched my friends play them. And deiced that the next army i wanted to build was a tau army and just wanted to know what more experienced tau players thought of my list. Ive seen alot worse. Its good

People will say no to the burst cannons and go for plasma rifles instead but while they are better.. I think its an okay (and cheaper) choice. Id suggest you add to your fire-warriors by spending a few more points to get a team leader + a bonding knife.

Besides that.. you should do well.

Stealth Teams are Elite, not Fast Attack.

I'd drop the Commander's bodyguard and take them as a regular Crisis team. That will save a few points, and the stat increases really don't matter.

I would go with Pulse rifles for the Firewarriors on at least two, if not all three squads. I'm not a fan of markerlights in the FW squads, but some people are.

If you are buying a Shas'O for your commander you don't gain any benefit at all from a Targetting Array (since BS5 is as high as you can go). Also, I don't see the value in giving the Commander a Fusion Blaster and a Burst Cannon, I like making my Crisis loadouts all geared towards one objective (Tank Killing, Moster Killing, Hoard Control...) and the Burst and the Fusion are pretty opposite functions.

Your Bodyguard are priced wrong, they should be 60 points (35 base)

Maybe consider leaving the bodyguard out and adding two regular Crisis suits, then join the commander to that team.

I wouldn't put Firewarriors with Markerlights in a Devilfish. Since the Marker is a heavy weapon, you will not be able to use it until you have been sitting still for a while. Also, be aware of the benefits and drawbacks of using all Carbines. You have to plan your strategy around being close to things to shoot them and pin them.

I like the Broadsides, but I would consider putting 2x Shield Drones and maybe a Bonding Knife on them.\

If you have extra points, maybe consider putting some Gun Drones on your Stealth Team. For 10 points each they give you some more wounds, some pinning ability, and they get Stealth for free. Plus, Gun drones really benefit from Markerlights, as their Twin-linked gains more of a statistical bonus to hit per Markerlight hit (and the pinning LD reduction option is a choice as well).

The reason i took the fusion blaster and the burst cannon was that i have noticed a lot of army list that that have troops in transports. and i thought what could be more destructive then blowing up a tank and then blasting the people inside with the same squad. Hence the reason i took the ability to fire at more then one target.

First, looking at your army list, if you could tell us how many troops are each section, that will make the list easier to read.

Now for the list itself. First the devilfish need disruption pods. Making a cover save and having them shrug off fire is invaluable and hilarious to watch. In my last game, my pods keep my hammerheads alive from lascannon, battlecannon, and demoisher cannon fire. He could not kill them. If the troops are in a devilfish, go with rifles, they have a longer range and the ability to rapid fire is better than pinning (to me anyways). Use the gun drones on the fish for pinning. The stealths are good, they are a nice unit. I prefer hammerheads over broadsides, but that is because I have the broadside models. They should serve you well as your main tank hunters. For the battlesuits, as you have stealths, they can go after hordes. I would suggest a loadout of plasma and burst cannons or plasma and fusions for the crisis suits. These can act as MEQ and TEQ hunters, and if you have the fusions they can tank hunt when appropriate or use the burst cannon for hordes.

Some general advice, I have found about the tau is that we are better when our units are geared for a specific purpose. Ie tank busting, horde killing, or MEQ killing. While the temptation is there to multi task our troops, they preform better if they are geared for a specific purpose. Your current loadout does not fit very well with the weapons, fusions are tank busters, bursts are infantry killers. For the suits, you want weapons that will work together for killing their targets. A fusion is overkill on what a burst cannon can kill and a burst cannon will not even ding the paint of the heavy armor that the fusions are meant to kill. Where as a plasma and burst can kill light and heavy infantry together, with the plasma giving the extra boost against TEQs and the burst the volume of shots for light infantry. Plus you would need a target lock on all of the suits to fire at the troops that go out of the transports. Multi trackers just let you fire both weapons in the shooting phase, which for these suits are necessary.

I hope this helps and does not sound like I am putting you down. Over the list is not to bad, you have some good elments, like the fish and stealths, its just your battlesuits need some work. Try making a new list with what we have told you and I am sure it will be good.

your broadsides are not legal, you can only put 1 upgrade on them and advanced stablizers HAVE to be added to the unit. Not trying to pick on you, just trying to keep you from being called on something by a judge. As for your Crisis weapon choices, might I suggest the plasma rifle/missile pod combo as it will give you a wonderful range advantage. I hope this helps

allyn, wa

quick question, can you add the HQcommader to the crisis elite squad? doesn't seem like a bad idea if you can
