Weird question I know, but having seen comments refering to having to drive for an hour to get a gane at my local store, it reminded me that there is a lot space in the US. Over here most of the guys of my club are only about a 15 - 20 minute drive from the club or local GW store.
Does the distance also have an impact on new games taking hold? By this I mean if it's hard to find enough 40k gamers in your area, does it follow that gamers playing non mainstream games is harder?

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Dude I'm not 15-20 minutes from anywhere.
Theoretically there is a store opening up nearby. We'll see.
Gaming wise it can be difficult.

I'm 15-20 miles from the middle of nowhere. But, go 10 more miles, and you are in Statesboro at Galactic. If anyone ever is in the area, stop in and say hi to Keith [the owner] and if he's there, Detective Evil Ken [don't know his real name, but he is called Evil Ken and he is a police detective.]

half hour gets me to a hobby store where i've seen crowds up to a dozen playing at any one time.
an hour in the other direction (or 10 minutes during the times i live in the town for college) and i'm at a hobbytown, which opened a building that certain days of the week just has a whole bunch of tables for people to play at.
course, to do anything with warmachine/hordes, i have either a 1.5 hour drive, or visit some friends who also play

I used to live 5 minutes from a gaming store. It closed and that number jumped to 30. Living where I am now a bus ride or short car ride can take me to a gaming location. I live in an exceptionally sparsely populated state too.
Though really it all depends on just where you live.

Ultrafool, where specifically in CA? I live here too, and this talk of new stores excites me!
It takes me about 20 mins to drive to my nearest Hobby Store. As for a game though, it can take an hour sometimes. Possibly more.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

its about 30-45 minutes to my local GW. However there is a local shop less than 10 minutes away that just started hosting 40k games bi weekly which I've started going to. I consider myself lucky.

There are three GWs near where I live, two are 15 minutes or less away while the other it depends on traffic, I only ever go to that one for FW stuff as it is a Battle Bunker. And one of the others stores is where I go for basic stuff, and plotting and planning models and doomsday devices.

There used to be a store in my hometown, but it closed down due to a new owner. Luckily another store opened that supposedly has a good community, but I am never in town. In Monroe where I go to school the nearest game store that actually has gamers is in Jackson, Mississippi 2 hours away. I have never seen an official gw store.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands
Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.
