i was wondering since it doesnt have on off button , is it safe when not used to pull plug off as people suggested?

1. When this drive and other like it are connected to a pc they turn on, so when you eject/disconnect it like a thumb/flash drive it turns off. If you are going to transport it its much easier to do so with the cord unplugged. This is perfectly safe as long as you disconnect the drive properly.
2. In you system information, there is data on your pc specs. try there.
3. CPUs look for dual/quad core depending on how much you want to spend. processors over 2.0 ghz are quite common now. If you game or do video editing go for as fast as you can afford. Ram 3-4 gigs is very common now, some stock pcs come with more. For a video look for 512mb+, 1g if you have money. Look for cards that dual monitors, HD, linking to other cards for high end.
I hope this helps, these are some things I have observed from friends that game/edit frequently.
Its been a while since I worked on a pc since I switched to apple. Hope this helps.

Don't buy that whatever you do.
I bought a terabyte (1000GB) external hard drive for £79.
That's a damn sight cheaper than the other one.

I got given a terabyte HD and an external case as separate birthday gifts last year.
(my friends give geek gifts).
I just click the little usb connected icon in the toolbar and wait for the disconnected sound. Works fine.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I say that you should get a external hard drive,
because if you have one of those you can have
security copies of your documents, pics or whatever you want.
