Hi guys

First time poster, only started in the hobby late last year and was just after some feedback on these models.

I'm a slow ass painter so it takes me a while to get this stuff out, but once it's done I'm pretty proud of it

Cheers

Looks pretty good, blurry but good. Have you any more images of the Sons of Russ? So that more comments could be made.

Nice painting man. I only just started a few months ago and I'm not such a good painter yet =/ Hoping to try some new techniques with the next squad I get. Keep it up tho.

First time poster, eh? Welcome to the board.

From what I can see, those space wolves look solid. You have your highlighting in order, and your color choice is working. You seem to be doing very well for someone new to the hobby.

I'd like to give you some advice about photos, since it will help the painting feedback that you get by a lot.

You should use a tripod as much as possible. Human hands cannot hold the camera steady enough, so it is difficult to get a clear picture without a tripod. If you are still having issues while using the tripod, start using your camera's timer function. With the fine details of miniature photography, every bump to the camera has potential to mess up the shot.

Also, it is best to have a lot of light. Diffused light works best (bounced off of white sheets of paper, or shone through) but if you cannot get that, then just grab some lamps and set up a little photo studio.

If you can, go ahead and print out a gradiant background. If you don't have one, you might want to just use a white piece of paper (bend the paper against the wall, so that you cannot see any creases for where it ends). This is less important than the other factors, but it can still help your photos, and thus improve the feedback you get.

And don't fret. No one knows this stuff when they first start posting.

I'd love to see more photos from you.

It's a conversion from a Black Reach dread

A very good looking conversion, I might add. Well done and keep it up! Give us more pictures so our voracious appetites can be whetted for more of the Chosen of Russ!

If I knew, I'd tell you.

Nice painting, but I can't help thinking you need some more red on the dreadnought.

On his left hand shoulder, you should put some red on the sights. Asides from that, he looks fairly good.

What does CB stand for?

Nice painting!

As for constructive feedback, I'd like to second the idea above (adding some red). Not necessarily to these models, since they look complete, but it would be nice to see another color stand out.

You could paint red "claw" marks on shoulder pads, for example.

Right now everything is in a blue-ish / grey tone, and it makes some of the detail (which you've done very well on!) not stand out. Having another color to catch the eye would really help with this.

I got some good advice from a store painter here, about using 3 colors (light-medium-dark) to balance your model out and make it interesting to the eye. It looks like you're using a lot of white, so that's your light, blue is your medium, and red could be your dark (or your medium if it was a bright red).

On the other hand, looking at the models you've got on the edge of the photo, it looks like you've got a lot of brown in some, so that could be your dark (or medium). Those look really interesting to the eye imho, and if that pelt on your dreadnaught were more of a dark brown (or a tan for the medium color if that's what you want), I think it would really stand out to the eye, too.

Hope that helps and great work!

I like it its a nice dark scheme and good work with the green stuff. Funny part its a pretty similar design to the dread I just finished for my Adepticon force. I'd love to see a bit brighter picture since its hard to see your exact color scheme since the picture is a bit dark.

See Dread below for my version on the AOBR converted Dread.

Holy gak! This is great work, your either a natural genius or your lying when you say you've only been in it for a year.

I like you work so far, especially the scout in the recent post, you've done a fine job painting the details of the fatigues. The Wolf Lord looks great as well, the head swap is a characterful addition but in my opinion he should've been looking up more, looks like he's shielding his face from the wind!

It is an oath we honour.
