Don't anger the Powers of Chaos! Here's what I believe to be the correct pronounciation of all four Gods:

Khorne: Probably the easiest to say right. Pronounced "Corn."
Nurgle: Easy, pronouced just like it's spelt. "Nur-gl"
Slaanesh: Pronouced "Slahn-esh" as in "ahhh." Not "Slan-esh" as in "an."
Tzeentch: Don't let the "T" confuse you! It's silent. You pronouce his name as "Zeench."

Hope this little guide has been helpful! My source is Dawn of War.

No arguments on my side, looking pretty good.

pretty funny that the Powers that Be need a chosen to ensure their names are pronounced correctly

Heh, if you were a Chaos patron, I'm sure you wouldn't want your subjects to say your name wrong! Woe to those that do, for they face their God's wrath!

What about their other names, like Shornaal and such? Do you know them?

Hmm, I'll give it a go.

Khorne's names:
-Kharnath: I believe it would be pronouced simply as "Car-nath."
-Khorghar: This might be either "Kor-gar" or "Korg-har."
-Akhar: "Ack-har" or "Ak-ar." Not sure, but in all of his names, when there's a "kh," the "h" is always silent.

Nurgle's names:
-Nurglitch: Again, easy. "Nur-glitch."
-Onogal: This one made me think. I think it would be "Ona-gall" or "Ohno-gall."
-Neiglen: Probably "Neigh-glen" or "Nigh-glen."I think it's the latter.

Slaanesh's names:
-Shornaal: "Shor-nahl" makes sense to me. Again, you say the double "a" as "ah."
-Lanshor: Either "Lan-shor" as it's spelt, or "Lahn-shor" with the slight "ah" sound yet again. I'd say the latter because the "ah" sound seems common with Slaanesh. Thing is, there's only one "a" instead of two. So it could go either way.

Tzeentch's names:
-Tchar: Again, the "t" is silent. "Char" as in "Charlie." (which happens to be my name!)
-Chen: Pronouced just like it's spelt.
-Shunch: This is a tough one. I'd say it sounds like it's spelt. "Shunch." Just one syllable.

And there you have it!

woah, thanks Aristocrap. That's pretty neat. Where'd you find the other names, BTW?

So was the misspelled subject title ironic?

*facepalm* I guess I wasn't paying attention xD For a time, I did think it was spelt that way. I though it was Runious as in "rune" not "ruin." I blame my former self!
Their many names can be found in the WoC army book, btw.

I'd think Onogal was three syllables. Oh-noh-gal

utan: Unlikely, though, as repeated use would tend to just blend the two soft a sounds.

The most annoying way I have heard Slaanesh is with a long "e". Slaan-eeesh. God, I hate that.

I dunno if the ruinous powers would get too worked up- the names are merely crude human attempts to name concepts they can barely fathom. What do mere words mean to psychic entities conversant in emotion?

Why? Just learned it wrong and never changed? I assume you know that is not how the word is written...

Forever alone

I once tried to teach the new young gamers how to pronounce the names of the gods correctly. They never got it, always saying rubbish like...

Khoorn
Nurdgle
Slaynesh
Tezenk

Truly awful. They still have bad pronunciation...

Tyre-anids
Dread-nougat
Abadun
Neck-runs

Terrible.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Dread-nugget sounds good!

While the Imperium would be pretty strict about their names and pronunciations, are Chaos, The Forces of Change and Disorder, really that fussed about how you spell/say their names?
Surely the natural flux of language, altering over time and space, is part of the allure of kaos?

N'gle watches language decay and rot in the mouths of his followers.
So long as Koorn gets his blood, and his skulls, what does he care for words?
Slaanites are so besotted by pain that they can hardly talk, and worship their Lord by actions.

I know several people who say khorne as either 'Crone', or somehow, 'Chrome'. Where the hell do they get the 'm' from?

Oh no, its a unit of angry old women, the Crone Beserkers.

Aaaargh, my eyes! I can barely see the shiny Chrome Beserkers!
