I know the Captains allow for Command Squads. Do the Forgefather and the rest count
as Chapter Masters in terms of Honour guard, orbital bombardment, etc?

Is a Captain a Chapter Master?
Is a Forgefather a Chapter Master?

The answer is No to both.

Only Chapter Masters get Honour Guard and the Orbital Bombardment.
Only Captains may take Command Squads.
Forgefathers Masters of the Forge, not Vulkan, have the Dreads as Heavy Support Ability instead.

Oops, thanks for that.

Let me clarify then.

Vulkan: Master of the Forge
Calgar, Kantor: Chapter Master
Lysander, Shrike, Khan, Cato: Captain

Is that right?

Vulkan is not a Master of the Forge. He is a Forgefather. He has no impact on your Dreadnoughts. He is a special rank within the Salamanders. He does not allow you to take a Command Squad or a Honor Guard.

No. he doesn't have the same rule as the Master of the Forge. Sorry I made a huge mistake in my last post, I'll fix it now. I blame the Rum! Basically, he cannot take a Command Squad, Nor an Honour Guard, nor does he let Dreads be Heavy Support.
I assume twinlinking/mastercrafting a whole bunch of stuff is the reason why. I'm sure eve GW was able to see that 6 ironclad Dreads all drop podding in with Twin Linked Meltagun/Twin Linked Heavy Flamer or Dual Twin Linked heavy Flamers was a teeeenie bit much. (Not that you cant do it, you just need 2 Characters to do so)
Calgar, Kantor: Chapter Master
Yes, both of their Entries state they may take one.
Lysander, Shrike, Khan, Cato: Captain
Yes. This is explicitly stated in the Command Squad Entry.

yeah what he said. As I said, The Most Holy Rum of the Emperor made me do it!

The text on page 93 at least says he is a captain but it has nothing to do with the rules because page 132 doesn't mention Vulkan.
