Here's a Chimera I've been working on for a friend. I just had to give my new camera a test run. The Chimera itself is roughly 80% complete. From that angle it looks almost 100%, but I've done 0% of the highlight work on the opposite side. Also, I'm trying to figure out something to do with that blasted banner on the side hatch.

I'm very impressed with the quality of the photo. It took me about 5-6 tries while toying with the various setting and trying to keep my hands still while pushing the picture button. Hopefulyl I'll have the other side done soon as well. Before I give it to it's owner, I plan to take a group shot of what I've painted so far for him:
A powerfist officer
2x10 man squads
2 Leman Russes
and this

I think that that would be small scale enough to shoot all in one picture without losing a lot of detail.

Good shot. Sharp and clear.

Keeping the camera steady is the hard bit.
Use a tripod/beanbag/stack of books/ even sit it flat on a table. Hand shake is the leading cause of camera shake/blur in macro shots.

Many cameras these days will allow the use of self-timer in macro mode (to further reduce the chance of shake). There are a number of techniques one can use when hand-holding the camera as well - including breathing and bracing the camera.

In the majority of cases, it still comes down to the 5 p's.

You will get better with practice, but a good start.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
