I've always wanted to start one of these, but I could never figure out the weapon loadouts or
the rules. Maybe I'll make it a point to learn the game at a Gencon.

Well; they're just about the easiest company to buy rules for the games EVER.

DP9 has for several years used Drive Thru RPG as a distrubuter of their E books. You can still buy soft or hardcover copies from the DP9 webstore; but I simply paid the $25 to be able to download it in PDF; then took it on a USB key to a local print shop and had it cirlocks bound.

You can also download their previous edition rules (Sillouhette Core) for free.

The Heavy Gear Blitz (Locked and Loaded) rulebook is the Blitz compendium. It has all the rules for the four principle Terra Novan factions (each with their own 4-5 sub factions) in it; as well as detailed background and hobby stuff.

For being a one man show; the rulebook is quality. I definately recommend giving it a download. It's full colour too!
