Subject: Need suggestions for special, SW themed 40k army

Crazed Spirit of the Defiler

*EDIT: Have changed title as topic has kind of expanded*
Hi guys, I am doing something a little different for my next army and need about 10-15 robed figures (hoods are a bonus!) in action poses with primarily swords... THe par in is they can't really have any armour on under the robes.
Some possible thoughts so far are:
Eldar Seers (though it would take a while to take all the symbols off and may mess up the models due to the high amount of them)
Ringwraiths (though they are expensive and a little small for 40k)
Eldar guardians (would be perfect but their poses are not actiony enough)
the FW Inquisitor (already ordered as he is perfect)
Any other ideas for this?
Cheers as always

Not hooded, but the high elf archers can be painted to look like they carry robes, and there are some swords n the racer frame as well. You'd have to convert some, but it seems quite possible.

However, that doesn't really work with the armour problem.... but you could suffice with a little bit of armour showing through couldn't you?

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor. |

I want to do a full (clone wars) SW themed 40k marine army.
HQ/Command - Jedi Council with Yoda leading it - all robes, no armour - have heads already - just gotta make yoda!
Squads - Clones (Red scorp helmets) with approprite squad colourings. No Back packs, no pads
Elite clones - DA vets
LRs - AT-ATs
Dreads - Scout Walkers (or whatever the clone wars variant is)
That's about as far as I have got so far - any other ideas appreciated

You could greenstuff some grots to hell and make some ewoks.
But check out the Clone Wars series, there should be more than enough ideas there.

Have spent the day *cough* working *cough* and come up with somne more concrete ideas - think I am defo going to do this...
Here's my ideas so far - any others most appreciated:
HQ:
Chapter Master/Librarium:
Yoda - Probably sculpted up from a plaguemonk or, if im feeling lazy, using the WotC figure repainted (havn't actually seen this yet though so don't know how viable it is)
Command Squad / Possibly squad leaders:
Various Jedis
Biker Captain:
Jedi on a modded speeder bike (i know these are from the other films but meh - it will look cool!)
Troop
Marines without shoulder pads and modded clone trooper helmets - I know exactly wwhich I will be using for this!
Elites
Dreads - Scout Walker (clone variant)
Marines with Red Scorp heads - Elite Clones
Fast:
Bikers - Speeder bikes
Landspeeder - Landspeeders
Heavies;
Not too sure on this one yet - want an ATAT though may be a little big for anything other than a super heavy
Just spent too much on some of Pig Iron's cool stuff and found his tanks - they are bigger than a rhino and look quite star warsy... He has sent my comparison pic and they look perfect scale.
So, I think I am getting there on ideas - Would like to use some droid type stuff for terminators etc though a squad of wookies as CC terminators does appeal.
Anyone have any ideas for Yoda or vehicles? My GS-Fu is sadly weak so simple stuff only.. I am quite happy with non-GW

Had literally half hour spare after work tonight so decided to have a go at bashing together a quick basic clone trooper.
He is quite marine-y still but that's ok with me - I think he would work ok once painted properly with helmet colours etc.
I also have 3 sets of red scorpion heads so could use those but I think the head works fine.
Any suggestions? He has no extra gubbins on him atm but I like his basic look

First, what Star Wars era are we talking about? Did they have AT-ATs before Episode IV?

Secondly, Kitt Fisto FTW! Seriously, do it. Just do it.
Can't wait to see what you come up with, the first clone trooper looks damn sexy! I think you should try to make the torso, well, smaller. Unless you still want to keep it 40kish. Good luck, man! This thread is officially subscribed to!

You'd have to have AT-RTs for a Clone Wars army.
Which would mean you'd need a cockpit alot like the Warwalker's.
But you really should look at the Clone Wars animated movie and cartoon series. They're actually pretty good in a cheeky way.
And the Jedi did have carapace armor, so that would give you an excuse to go find something to work with.
And in regards to your Clone Trooper...
I would say, scrap the Marine idea.
Go with Eldar bodies, and then look for helmets from there.

Thanks for all the input everyone - some very good ideas!
While I do think guardians would be more suitable models I have chosen to stick to marines... Mainly as I actually have all the necessary stuff alrerady and I think they willl look ok once painted.
Gonna get hold of all the cartoons now and watch them for some inspiration. I have 1 LR left to paint for a tournament this weekend then it's straight onto my SW marines - woot!
I may even do a baddie army from the original films after this!

Ok, some more 'work' time and I have firmed up models for a lot more stuff.
Once I make a start next week (Easter holds - teacher - woot!) I will make a proper post in the P&M forum... The more I think about this project, the more I fall in love with it. I don't think I have ever been as excited about a new project.
If anyone has any more suggestions, please let me know!
HQs/Squad Leaders:
Yoda - Either WotC Figure or a plague monk with full scuplt *Gulp*
Other Jedis - Mixture of:
- Tau Ethreal Bodies (particularly one with honour staff)
- 1 or 2 DA Vet bodies (ones covering armour for bulky jedis)
- 1 or 2 Witch hunter Preachers kit bashed
- Wardancers with added cloaks
The rest will be a mixture of flaggelants with GS'd robes and Maruaders with GS robes - Looking for about 10 in total here I think
Clones - Marines with Clone helmets - I realise they are too big but I like the scale and have all the stuff already! I may give them tau guns though will probably just stay with bolters for cost
Terminators - I am REALLY tempted to do a wookie unit for these guys - I think it would be soooooo cool.
Scouts - Ironpig Assault troops - realise these don't fit in with SW but they look cool and will fit the army methinks
Landspeeders - Have 2 old toy SW speeders that I am going to convert up and put minis in!
Bikes - Speeder type bikes from RotJ - I realise these are a different theme/setting/side but they will be easy to make from bits left over from my nob bikers and are still easily identifiable.
Transports/Predators - Will probably be using the pig iron tanks for this though I could convert a rhino base pretty easily into shuttle shapes I think and they would look TOOOOOOOOOO cool... So may do that - long way off though and havn't seen what shuttles are appropriate to army/setting.
That's about it so far - any other ideas people come up with - let me know!
