I've recently got the 40k bug again. I haven't played since 2nd edition and did most of my playing in rogue trader. I don't have any painted pieces left, but I do have a bunch of bits and unpainted stuff. Most of that seems to be about worthless from what I've seen since I started reading again. Ah well, time makes fools of us all.

In any case, I'm thinking about getting two armies going. I think I want to try out World Eaters for myself and Witch Hunters for my wife who would also like to paint and play. I'm nowhere close to having army lists yet though.

I have to be honest, its been a decade and a half at least since I painted minis. I'm a little scared to try it again. I'm sure my standards are higher now and my skills are lower.

Painting is much easier now than it used to be, the quality of tools and materials is significantly higher, so you will find (after a few test pieces) that it is much more enjoyable and gives much more scope to learn new techniques.

What materials are better? Paints and brushes or models? The models seem much more detailed now then when I left off, but I'm pretty disappointed with how many of them are plastic now.

the quality of models has gone up quite a bit
you can order some of the older classic stuff from the site still though

paints are alot better (allthough more expensive and need a slight bit of water added to make them a little more smooth)

the new washes are great, like inks, but without the annoying shine, and a much better range of colours.

The newer models look incredible. It makes me not want to bother painting what I do have left over that is still usable. I just wish there was more metal, but life goes on.

Cool about the paints and washes!

What kind of unpainted stuff do you have? I am looking for old Space marines for a themed army, so I would be willing to make an offer on some of it or even the whole lot

PM me if you want.
