Subject: 1500 pt Necrons List - Competive (or attempting to be)

I've masochistically decided to build a necron army for two reasons. First, its inexpensive. Second, I love the army and hope to see a new codex in the next year. That said, I know they've gotten it pretty bad from 5th edition. Crazy emphasis on CC and ridiculously low init, cover saves all over the place making our WBB less relatively powerful, new vehicle damage rules screwing gauss, etc.
However, I''m definitely collecting the army. The question is, how do I go about making it as competitive as possible? Here's a stab at an army list.
1 The Nightbringer @ 360 Pts
8 Immortals @ 224 Pts
10 Warriors @ 180 Pts
10 Warriors @ 180 Pts
4 Destroyers @ 200 Pts
10 Scarab Swarms @ 120 Pts
1 Monolith @ 235 Pts
Total Roster Cost: 1499 | Phase Out = 8
Decent + of necron models, lots of mobile shots in the form of immortals and destroyers, scarab swarms as the ultimate tarpit unit, and the nightbringer/monolith to do the big nasty stuff. After a lot of thinking, and a lot of lists, and a few practice games on Vassal (most of which actually went well), I think this is about as good a take all comers list as I'm going to get.
But of course, the collective mind of dakka surely knows something I don't know. Give me advice!

I guess this means that the list is perfect as is?

First off, let me so Nice going starting Necrons. 5th Has hurt them, but they are still a really cool army.
Now to your list, I do not think this is very strong. You have the Nightbringer and a monolith in 1500 points. As cool as it is, you would probably be better off getting more firepower into the list. Your phase out is pretty low. Also, you should only ever run necron units in minimum groups of 2 for WBB purposes.
Let me just say this, I do not think the nightbringer is worth it ar 1500. You are better off with a lord w/ res orb. Which this list needs. If I were you, I would drop the nightbringer and the destroyers and pick up more immortals and scarabs. Keep the monolith if you want, but consider the idea of even dropping it for more scarabs and immortals.

Drop the Nightbringer for another for a Lord with Nightmare Shroud and Veil of Darkness.
Resurrection Orbs, I've found are over rated.
They are only really practical in conjunction with Warriors (which should be hiding as much as possible).
Your Phase Out # is below your model count for your smallest warrior squad, which is good.
Immortals are good but lack mobility.
Unless your running a VoD lord, 4 Destroyers will do you more good.
Don't drop the Monolith, they are prince in 5th.
I take 2 in 1500, and have been phase out only once due to a stupid mistake involving purposefully engaging my warriors.
1 Lith = ignored, 2 = ouch.

Get rid of the Immortals and the Scarab swarms, instead have Pariahs and Heavy Destroyers. Also possibly drop The Nightbringer in favour of a Destroyer Lord, maybe even another Monolith. The Nightbringer dies too easily, the Scarabs aren't powerful enough and the Pariahs are basically better versions of Immortals.

"The Nightbringer dies too easily,"
ha ha!
"Pariahs are basically better versions of Immortals."
Even better! keep them jokes coming all day!
4/5 t8 wounds at 4++ does not die to easy... It soaks every firepower, unless people have played as crons before.
Pariahs, besides costing 50% more, are not necrons, therefore do not count towards PO, do not get WBB, and cannot be ported. for all that you get a warscythe. with 1 attack at I3. HAve fun with that one, and please don't take them until the (rumored) new codex.
*ahem*
This is the 1500 list that won me a recent tourney:
The deciever
orb lord
2x14 warriors
8 immortals
2x4/1x8 scarabs
lith
Not too far off from yours. I'd go for el deceivo over NB any day. not as killy in CC, sure, but his other abilities are made of win. Deploy your lith on the table, watch him scurry to try and arrange counters, then pick it up with his redeploy effect. Place scarabs on one flank and move them to the other. WIN TACTIC: In DoW, go first, deploy 2 warriors in a string across the 2' line. He then must deploy in a 6" deployment zone. Then redeploy your boys to tactical position.

Niiiice list. Do you feel like you have a lack of mobility with that list? Everyone touts the power of Destroyers, rightly so I think. Does the teleporting power of the Monolith fix this, or do you play a more static playstyle?

I feel like it is too easy to phase the army out without an orb to protect your necrons. Nightbringer is a beast yes, but you have quite an achiles heal with Phase Out, and you need to guard against that. I think this makes an Orb really important, to the point where I wouldn't field a Necron army without one.

Regardless of the pro's/con's on imms vs D's, i've had bad luck with them, and only having 3 (battleforce much?) leaves me in a lurch.
I do play rather static, letting the lith lynchpin my assault. (this comes from having generally absurd reserves rolls. E.g. i made four 4+ reserves for 2 liths and 2x10 warriors on T2 in a recent 3k game.) Once I roll the lith in, it extends my force 18" into enemy lines.
