Im curious about armour, cover and invulnerable saves for ex: If a weapon shooting has a strength that is doubled and pierces armour does the opponent still get an invulnerable or cover save?, and if in the same situation in an assault, even if the opponent has more than one wound is it out right death?.?.?

, and if in the same situation in an assault, even if the opponent has more than one wound is it out right death?.?.? You always use the best save available. If a Model has a 3+ Armour Save, a 4+ Invulnerable and a 5+ Cover, and is then hit by a AP3 weapon, he gets to take his invulnerable save.
In assault you can take armour and ivulnerable saves , but you cannot take cover saves.
A easy way to think of it is Invulnerable and Cover saves may always be taken even if the shot ignores your armour (unless the weapon ignores cover and invulnerable saves).

If a weapon is double the target's toughness, it only prevents an armor save if the AP is equal to or above their Save. For example, Space Marine Terminators get an armor save (2+) against a Krak Missile (S8 vs. T4) since it's only AP 3. Weapons more than double the toughness (unless specifically noted otherwise) do allow Invulernable and Cover Saves. Note, that you can only take one save.
For example, a Space Marine Terminator is shot by a lascannon, which is AP2. The terminator wouldn't be allowed his armor save, but could take his invulnerable save (5+) or a cover save - if appropriate (typically 4+).
Weapons that are twice or more the target's toughness cause Instant Death (unless the target has Eternal Warrior). Which means, if they do even one wound, the model is removed. For example, a Space Marine Captain in Terminator Armor is shot by a lascannon. If he fails the Invul or Cover save, he's removed.
Also, weapons that are double the target's toughness do not allow Feel No Pain to be used (which is a second 4+ save after the initial Armor/Invul/Cover Save).

There are 3 types of save, of which you can pick one to use against each attack.
Armour Saves, which allow you to roll against weapons that dont ignore them (either due to low AP, power weapons or MCs in combat or something else)
Invulnerable Saves, which allow you to roll against all weapons that not specifically say they ignore them (C'Tan, Callidus Assassin, not very common)
Cover Saves, which allow you to roll against only shooting attacks that dont ignore them (like template weapons or dragonfire bolts)
If an attack is double a models toughness then you still get any appropirate saves. If a battlecannon (S8 AP3) shot at your SM captain in cover, for example, you would have the option of taking your 4+ invulnerable save or your 4+ cover save. If that captain was in combat with a carnifex however (MC S9) then he would only be able to take his invulnerable save.
In both these cases if he failed his save he would be subject to instant death and lose all his remaining wounds.
Weapons that cause instant death dont ignore armour saves because simply because they cause instant death, but most of them do anyway.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

If thypus has the Toughness 4(5) and is shot at by a lascannon Strength 9 AP 2. it will cancell his armour save, he will get his Invul 4+, but if he fails he is toast because the weapon is double his toughness. unless it states he is ammune to instant death."eternal warrior"
and when it come to instant death his chaos marks are NOT taken into account..so you would use his toughness 4 not (5)......pg26 instant death.
So a strength 8 weapon will kill him if he fail his save.
