hello , i am thinking about making an eldar army , but i can't decide which craftworld to play . i am very tempted on playing an Iyanden list , so here it is : hq: --------- farseer , guide =75 elite: ------- 6 wraithguard , warlock = 235 troops: ------------- 10 guardians , scatter laser = 95 " same as above " = 95 ---------------------------------------------------- 500pt , 27 infantry tactic is that guardians sit on objectives and shoot at enemys coming close while being guided by their farseer. if enemy get's too close , the wraithguards shoot the crap out of them. what do you think ?

I recommend going down the Alaitoc route instead, and taking a squad of 10 Pathfinders, a pair of guide seers, one with Fortune, Spirit Stones, the other also with stones, and has Doom, then filling the remaining points with squads of 3 Jetbikes to outflank the opponent. Singing Spears would be really nice.
If you really want to use Wraithguard though, the list is absolutely fine as is tbh. I'd consider pincering with the Guardians in Annihilation, with the Wraithguard in the middle, forcing the oppt onto you.

Hehe take Eldrad and that warlock unit with conceal if it will fit. EDIT: Im dumb that isnt a troop with 6 guys. That would be so good if you could though....
I would advise against ten pathfinders, thats a lot of points into ten shots that are really specialized. In this points level I would rather have bolters or lasguns for the points cost.

They're pretty versatile, in that they kill infantry, MCs and light vehicles, but more important is the 2+ saves, Fortune'd when you'r opponent is unlikely to get near enough to flame them, or to have anything like a Redeemer that will be impenetrable...the only real problem would be a horde, like a 60-Ork list, but even they can eventually be Pinned, and Jetbikes may draw them away from your main block better. Don't forget that Pathfinders have Scouts, as well as Infiltrate, and could even outflank if there was a good reason, they're more versatile than Ranger Long Rifles suggest at 1st glance. I admit, given the quantity of Lasguns or even Bolters you can get for 240 points, there's certainly a debate about which is better, but for Eldar it's a no-brainer. Against marines, squads of 10 Guardians would be lucky to last 3 turns. Very lucky indeed.

Brace your checkbook if your going the Iyanden road.
Wraithguard are expensive if you plan on expanding the force to 2000+ points. But the force you listed above is a good starter no matter wich craftworld your go with.
I usually field Wraithguard, Pathfinders, Avengers and Guardians as my Troop choices. 10 Wrathguard with a Spirtseer and attached Farseer is argueably the best troop choice in the game.

thanks to everybody for posting . i don't like pathfinders as they are ( imho ) terribly overpriced for what they do . only 10 shots won't hurt a marine much . the wraithguards can kill enemy transports easily , and then obliterate the units inside . it is kinda stupid that wraithguard cost so much $$$ , but i think i will get over it . at 750 pt , i was thinking about adding 3 more wraithguards , 1 anti tank wraithlord and change the guardians weapons to eml's also , do you think that it will be hard to play an iyanden craftworld ? what do you think about that ?

For me, the main issue with Iyanden lists is that they're sadly pretty low on numbers...I think you'd be better jumping right up to 1k and, despite the cost, 3 10-man Wraithguard squads as Troops would be a very solid core. A Farseer and 2 Wraithlords would fill out the list neatly.

One issue you will have is with CC armies. You will want either to give the your Wraithlord a Sword (can't believe I just said that) or have a unit of Scorps or Banshees close by to counter assault.
Your 12inch range means you will get one round of fire before they charge you. Wraithguard are great for theit toughness and shooting weapon...but become just another unit in CC.

yeah cc armies COULD make a problem , but at 500 pt , they won't have THAT much troops , and my guardians still got their scatter lasers . i wouldn't use the wraithlord for anti elite/hq , wraithguards do that alot better . wraithlords should pump out AT shots . @ rangerrob : the problem with the $$$ is not so severe , as i want to play Iyanden or mobile biel-tan . i did the maths and the Iyanden list only costs 7 euros more , that's not that much

Not in the same turn they dont. they kill the transport, then get killed by whatever is inside. Id say potentially dropping a guard for conceal/enhance, then upping the scatters to EML may be a good idea. then get a spear on the WG warlock.
If you wanted to push the limit on Iyanden, then why not:
75 Seer, guide
95 10 guardians, scatter
95 10 guardians, scatter
90 wraithlord, 2flamers
90 wraithlord, 2flamers
445pts
giving you 55pts to equip the wraithlords with whatever you feel like. Id probably go for an EML on each, or EML, Scatter+Shuricannon
EDIT: 2 wraithlords works out cheaper $$$ wise than 6 wraithguard+warlock, also.

true , transports should be taken out by other units .
i've been thinking about dropping 1 wraithguard to get conceal on the warlock , change the farseers power to fortune and drop a squad of guardians to get a 5 man squad of rangers.
the conceal + fortune would make the wraithguard alot more survivable , and the rangers could snipe heavy weapons that could hurt the wraithguards .
what about that ?

A Ranger squad did cross my mind, but then it'd be easier to nuke your troops w fewer men. Like Fortune with a 3+/5+ unit at T6 though. For me its hard to be certain as I never play 500pts games, things that suffer in bigger games could excel there...proxy it and playtest with friends, if possible, that's your best bet.

i guess playtesting HAS to be the best way to see if its better . their 2+ cover save should prove helpfull when trying to hold an objective .
