Horrible Hekatrix With Hydra Gauntlets

Hi,
I'm starting an Imperial Guard army with the new Codex, and I've bought the bit I won't need to wait to get.
Here's what I have and plan to buy for a Static Gunline Army, defensive position style:
2 IG Platoon boxes - these contain 2 10-man squads, a 5-man Command squad and 2 Heavy Weapon teams, if the rumours i've heard are correct.
Forge World Cadian Command squad set, I plan on a artillery officer, Psyker, Scanner/Vox, and Meltagun, plus HSO/JO w/ HI
2 Earthshaker Cannon Platforms
1 Phaeton Pattern Defence Platform - this has 2 LB Autocannons, incase you didn't know.

So that's what i have, I need an army list!

HQ
Command Squad w/ Above loadout, around 170 Points
Troops
Platoon 1
JO, 4 Flamers, Master Vox - 75ish
10 Guardsmen, Meltagun, Meltagun, Vox - 65ish
10 Guardsmen, Meltagun, Meltagun, Vox - 65ish
2 Autocannon Teams - 80ish
Platoon 2
JO, 4 Flamers, Master Vox - 75ish
10 Guardsmen, Plasmagun, Plasmagun, Vox - 65ish
10 Guardsmen, Plasmagun, Plasmagun, Vox - 65ish
2 Lascannon Teams - 90ish
Heavy Support
Earthshaker Platform - 75
Earthshaker Platform - 75
Phaeton Pattern Defence Platform - 100
Total: 1000
What do you think?

Sorry, so - is this list using the old codex or the new rumored codex? And that's in addition to using IA rules for the Earthshaker Platforms and Defense Platform?

I would assume he's basing off the new one, since it says that in his first sentence(non-sarcastic) and also because I haven't heard of 'Phaeton Defense Pattern' otherwise.

See, that's what I assumed, too, except for the fact that he references JO's, HSO's, and HI, none of which are in the new codex - I mean, the JO's and HSO's have different names, but I haven't seen anything to say that you can have a Company Command Squad led by an officer with anything but a Company Commander's statline. Same with references to the Master Vox.

In a lot of ways, this looks like a pretty standard army from the old codex (although in neither the old codex nor the new one can you have more than one SW in a line squad).

Here's some thoughts on changes, if you're using the new list:

- Company Command Squad - at 1000 points, you shouldn't be fattening this thing up with Advisors - you just don't have enough points. Decide whether the CCS will hang out in the backfield and give orders or if you're willing to let it be a tank hunter. Frankly, for the points, they're the best tank hunter squad the new Codex can offer.

If you want to keep it in the backfield, I'd give them an Autocannon and 1 or more plasma guns - if you're close enough to use a melta, you're already screwed.

If you want to make it a tank killer unit, give it a Chimera and 4 meltas - 1 melta alone won't do much for you. IG are all about volume of fire.

- JO/Platoon Command Squad - I think the 4 flamer JO squad that got used all the time under the last codex won't be seeing as much use in this one. I think the Platoon Command Squad has much the same role as the CCS - either a very cost effective tank hunter unit with meltas and a chimera or a backfield squad to boost your line squads with commands - should be armed as described above for the CCS.

- Infantry Squads - Take the melta guns out of your line squads to give to your command squads. Give the ACs to members of the line squad rather than in separate Heavy Weapon Squads. Save those points on the plasma guns and give a LC heavy weapon team to each squad.

- Heavy Support - The only time you buy or use stuff with Imperial Armor rules, it's out of love for the model and not necessarily the usefulness of the item. For similar points, I would instead buy 2 Griffons and a Hydra - you'll save 25 points overall and have more mobility.

I'm not sure where to fit it into your budget, but you might consider waiting on the FW Command Squad and buying a Chimera instead - I think you'll get more utility out of it, particularly as you'll have bitz for command squads in the new Battalion Box Sets

Here are the points that came to mind when I read your proposed army list:

1. The new IG Battleforce kits come with the figs that you mentioned except that you should get 3 HWS; not just two. You will also get two Sentinels (one per Battleforce).

2. Your list has 4 melta guns and 4 plasma guns. You won't get that many SW of those types in the two Battleforce sets. Each command box only comes with one each. So you will only have 2 melta guns and 2 plasma guns. The infantry boxes, reportedly, only come with flamers and grenade launchers. You can buy more melta and plasma gunners in a Cadian special weapons blister that has two pewter figures: one plasma and one melta.

3. DeathbyMonkeys already covered most of the other issues. Since I am not well read on the Imperial Armor items, I'll avoid commenting on them or possible substitutes.

By all indications everyone has the same weapons options as before. In other words, no infantry squads with two special weapons, no vox operators with flamers, heavy weapons squads have three teams, and so on. There is no longer a master vox.

The contents of the upcoming battleforce are known and are now available for preorder. 20 infantrymen, a command squad, three heavy weapons teams, and a sentinel.

Needs more tank.

That's hardly a helpful comment. He can't even fit 9 tanks into a 1000 point list. And to meet FOC he has to sink at least 190 points into his HQ and two troop choices (CCS + 2 vet squads). So at best, he could fit five tanks into a 1000 point list. And I don't think that's really a good list. It might also get a strong negative reaction from your opponents as well.

O H I am in the Webway...

Yeah even 5 tanks in a 1k point game is really powergamer, and won't be friendly at all... (if this is just for fun list)

Im also confused, I'm assuming your using Imperial Armor weapons, and in that case idk what they do... Im assuming the earthshaker platforms are like basalisks but a bit different? And the other thing I guess you explained (Autocannons arn't bad)

Looks ok, I would maybe mix up the special weapons a bit, a flamer and a grenade launcher in there, something to pin.
