Hokay. So I'm sitting at 750 points right now.

Librarian - Gate of Infinity, Smite

Thoughts:

1. Powerfists seem key against the eventual proliferation of TMCs.
2. MLs may not be up to the task of dealing with mass Guard armor. The new Guard dex will probably outshoot me - badly.
3. My poor Ironclad comes out 2nd best against Nid beasties every time. He's matched a bit better vs a Tyrant, but 5W fexes will eat him every time. He seems ok against rank and file marines - since nobody is packing powerfists at the moment - (and even powerfists need a 5 to glance) - though his low attacks characteristic means he's usually in combat A LONG TIME. I'm not sure I should invest in a brother for him (or an assault squad to help out). I'm thinking in the long run, he doesn't really fit well into my plans - as I included it initially on a lark for the "I'm in ur base, messing up ur planz" shock value deployed from the drop pod - in the hopes it would draw tons of fire - only to find that he's easily neutralized by tarpit. - Doubing up on podding Ironclads would somewhat mitigate this weakness however. -edit- I'd like to add that he is GOLD when used to attack an isolated combat squad sitting on an objective.
4. Attack bikes vs landspeeders. Both die easily to S8+, with the bike being somewhat more resilient vs S7- and able to take cover saves. The landspeeder can pack more guns though.
5. Devestators? Seems like a lot of eggs in one basket.
6. Vindicators. Can shoehorn a pair into the army at 1250... though I've always found them unacceptably fragile with side armor 11.
7. Stormshield for the Librarian? Terminator armor? I'm tending towards power armor so I can pile him into the razorback.
8. Wanted to take Sicarius instead of the Librarian - but 200 is a lot of points at 1500. I'd feel better taking him at 1700-2000.

Any suggestions welcome.

I think a HB/AC predator and a Vindicator would be a very nice addition to the army. Sternguard vets squad would be a good addition in the 1k also just because of their awesome weaponry and being able to dish out pain against evey opponent.

Any reason for suggesting a predator? It has to stay still to fire with full effectiveness - where as the vindi can fling plates on the move.

I found out the hard way with my Whirlwind that staying still kind of sucks in that enemy attacks will auto-hit in HTH on rear armor. (Keep in mind this happened in a table quarters mission and the enemy flank marched on the whirlwind's position). Also, I find the Sternguard very expensive guys that die the same as regular marines. Any suggestions on properly using them?
