I really like the idea of an army of trees, because ... well .... I like trees. In that spirit i've decided to do a forest spirit army, yes i know its not the most original thing in the world but i've never actually seen one played. Anyway here's the list, all comments welcome...

Props on going pure trees, no wildriders or wardancers mucking things up. I don't play wood elves and more or less dislike treemonic legions, but here are some quick points:

1) Probably want cluster of radiants on a wraith, for more dispel dice.
2) Your dryad units are WAY too big. Large units get you only a chance at outnumbering, while making them less maneuverable and easier to catch in the process. 8 is I think the min/max size on dryads, as it gets you max attaks, though I can see 10-12 being a good number. Splitting those 60 into, say, 5 smaller units might be a good move, with the larger one to bunker down wraiths or something.
3) 7 Treekin is again way too many in one unit. Most people don't like treekin too well, but you want 3 or 4 in a unit ideally. You could split these into a 3 and a 4, or juggle points to get 2x 4 for max attaks ... or drop one for 2x 3 for more support hammers than straight up assaulters. Use the points for spites or even more dryads

Thanks for the advice - although seeing as drycha already has 2xcluster of radiants I don't think that I can add another to a wraith (spites work like magic items so you can't use them twice), but since she is a special character can I?

I had big units for the whole outnumbereing with fear causing creatures thing, although I guess charging in with two units of dryads has the same effect. In that case there will be 4 units of 10 dryads with a units of 20 for Drycha because I want to maximise on Drycha's teleporting from wood to wood' rule.

Also Drycha allows me to keep as many units as I want in reserve. On a 4+ I can have them appear in any wood on the board, turn 2+. On an average WFB board I tend to find that you get 2 bases of trees + the woodelf free one. In this case how useful do you reckon this is? If Drycha dies I will not be able to call in remaining units, but I like the idea of comming at my enemy from different angles.

1 - yes you can´t take another cluster of radiants
2 - the treekin are too big. cut them in half
3 - put some spites on the dryads. the bound spell will add an extra spell to you casting. sure it may not do much but it could draw out some dispel dice at the start.

as for drycha´s unit i´d suggest still decreasing it as you may not be able to fit all 21 into a woods. i´d put 15 max in the unit.

also @ boss salvage you can take wild riders in the army. they ARE forest spirits

Ok I'll reduce it to 15, and divide treekin in two. I will not, however, take wildriders as I like the 'all tree' theme, not just forest spirits. I'll take one bound spell on a branch wraith, but to do that i'll have to juggle point a bit.

I have seen an all tree army played before but the girl was crazy and ruined it. She painted her trees on fire and refused to move anything, at all, ever.

So to see an all tree army done well would be amazing. Drycha's teleporting is one of my favorite things. I agree with the general idea of knocking down the size of units, it gives you more maneuverability and makes you able to get out there and attack rather than just being hopelessly locked in combat. Plus even just three treekin can mow down a lot of things they encounter. Also the point of not being able to fit in the woods makes a lot of sense. Good ideas. Good luck with it.
