Okay so I have asked many rules questions elsewhere because I don't want to post every second thread in this forum.

However this one was answered incorrectly elsewhere imo.

Can a space marine tactical squad start the game on the board in pitched battle and their razorback be held in reserve.

I got the answer "no".

I don't have my rulebook at the moment (on vacation), but I'm fairly certain that you can.

Whoever said No is an utter tool. both the Razorback and Marines count as separate units, so you can have 1 deployed and one in reserve.

What you Cannot do is have a 10 man Squad Embarked on it in reserve, since you cannot combat Squad marine squads held in reserve.

So in short you can:
  • Have Both Deployed

  • Have one Deployed one in reserves

  • Have Both in reserves but rolled for separately (Any Size Squad)

  • Have Both in reserves And Enter Embarked on the Razorback, so roll one dice for them together (5 or 6 Man Squad only)

  • And don't worry, ask away.

The only thing you can't do is have razorback in reserve with one combat squad on board while the other is in reserve on foot - they aren't split into squads until one they deploy.

I don't think many opponents wouldn't let you do that if you declared it before deployment though.

Either that, or made a simple, and somewhat common, mistake.

I wouldn't say they were a tool, but they were indeed wrong.

When you forgot to even TRY to couch the phrase "utter tool" in a humoristic way. :-p

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.
