Just as the title says I was wondering, of course the ork boys couldn't use their sluggas in a fantasy game and would need to be put on squad bases

I don't know about 40k in fantasy but fantasy in 40k yeah of course!
As long as they're on the right bases you probably would be stretche to tell the difference.

There once was a 'Feral Ork' army list, which seemed tailor-made for using WHFB Orcs in 40k.

However, the predominance of guns on the 40k Orks makes it very difficult to pass them off in a game of WHFB. Hell, you don't see many Orcs with bows, nevermind guns.

just magnetize the gun arms with shield arms or something and there shouldn't be any problems.

Someone asked the EXACT same question on the 40K forum. The idea must be getting around. I thought it was a bad idea on that forum, but I think it is a great idea here!

You opponents will enjoy remembering which figs count as which figs, because they will be so impressed with your “Feral Orks”, or your “Mek Orcs”. They wont mind not knowing which regiments have shields or full command or just musicians.

And, if anyone does object, you just tell them that the folks at Dakka-Dakka said it’s A-OK.

The answer of course is.....it's a game! Do whatever you want as long as your opponent is okay with it.

The Orc/Ork thing is a bit different than say: playing a game of 40k with Demons on square bases rather than circular ones or the other way around with fantasy.

Just keep in mind that for your opponent keeping track of all the "Counts as" and proxies can be a pain sometimes, and some folks won't appreciate it (like Gobbla for example.)

As a longtime player of WHFB, this is how I feel about it: If you are a 40K player and want to try out fantasy, I'd be fine with letting you use your Orks as Orcs, as long as 1) they are mounted on correct 25mm bases, or put on movement trays that give the unit the correct footprint (so the combats can be fair), and 2) we can unambiguously declare how the unit is equipped (even if only by writing it on a slip of paper and sticking it on top of the unit) so there is no confusion later in the heat of the game.

If, after a while, you decide that you really liked fantasy and wanted to play a lot, I would hope that you 'd start collecting fantasy orcs to use. If you were still using predominantly 40K orks a year after getting seriously into fantasy, I'd probably mention it was time to make a change.

The only thing I see not working is the guns, the bionics and some of the torsos. Boyz in both universes could swap torsos, choppas (maybe not the chain choppas though) and heads easily.

As far as i'm can see just say theyre snakebites if your using fantasy orcs as orkz, the codex has examples of them without gunz and you still use the same rules so there isnt any problem with this.

I love the selective reading here. He's not asking if he can use WFB Orc models to make 40K Orks, which lots of folks do. He's not asking if he can make a Snakebite 40K army. He is asking if he can base 40K slugga boys on square bases and use them in BOTH 40K and WFB, calling them one or more of the 18 combiantions of Orcs in that list, and if he can use WFB Orcs on square bases in 40K. You know, like using 'Arrer Boyz for Looters.
