Is Empire a competative army? Ignoring comp scores, how would a twin STank 2k pt. army do? Would it hold up to VC? Daemons?

Pistoliers, trio of Wizards, Crossbowman, and some STanks, with a few other tidbits. Would that be good? Or is it too narrow to work?

I am still rather new to WHFB, so I am sorry if that is a noobish question, but I am just curious. Thanks.

Add in the Arch Lector on War Alter and 2-4 cannons and you have the basic Empire cheese list.

IMO even one Stank in 2k is pushing it. Daemons will Eat the list for breakfast, but depending on what a VC general takes, then a Stank or 2 could do fairly well.

Why would deamons eat the dual stank + cannons for breakfast??
They can beat it but they dont auto win vs it.

Sorry but daemons don't really eat good empire lists for breakfasts. The most problematic units are flesh hounds but if you can somehow contain them, the matchup isn't that bad.

Well, the funny part is that I was totally wanting the Steam Tanks before I found out they were cheesy. I am a huge fan of VSF, so it was a natural draw.

SO! Arch-Lector w/ Altar, 4 Cannons, 2x STanks, 3 Battle Wizards, Knights, and some Handgunners. Seems about right? Cheese isn't a problem, just making sure it is going to do well (and if it is cheese, it should).

...and that sweet plastic Stank is coming out sometime soon.

Make sure the Arch Lector has the right kit (Shield of the Gorgon, Van Horstmann's Speculum). Adding a good one-handed weapon would be nice as well. When he is wearing this kit he will be able to go toe to toe with the heaviest characters out there (Bloodthirsters etc.).

I don't know about the Handgunners, they don't seem that useful to me. I'd just take the Knights as your Core choices.

What about Karl Franz on a Dragon? How does that do? Seems like a modelling dream (or nightmare, depending on my patience that day and if I can find my dremel). Would he combine well with the aforementioned set-up? If not, I will just go with the Lector. Making my own War Altar would probably be a blast too.

The STANK is not the beast it once was if you run into Greater Daemons (not GUO as he is too slow), dragon riding lords.

The priest on war altar with speculum is very annoying for opponents, 4 cannons and 2 hellblasters give extraordinary area denial.

Problem is the core... you may as well go gunline with a flaggelent unit for anything that gets through.

The STANK is an awesome choice against GD's, so long as you have cannon's to support/protect the STANK's before the GD's charge.

On the charge, a Steam Tank can probably put the last few wounds on a GD.

Yea, im gonna go with those 4 cannons putting a world of hurt on that GD before he gets to the STANK.
Once that happens the deamon will avoid the tank like the plague. The tank itself is great against most deamons. It can hold up the regenerating nurgle, stop the slanesh in its tracks, mock the tzeench (except bolt of change), and go toe to toe with khorn (runs into problems here).
It just cant last if a thirster charges it head on, but what can...

The Arch Lector on his War Altar with Vann Horstmann's Speculum, Shield of the Gorgon and Sword of Might will pretty much solo a Bloodthirster. He can't avoid your challenge as he can't move to another rank, so he will have 1 S4 attack at WS4 against your 7 S7 attacks at WS10. Pretty sure the Bloodthirster isn't going to win this battle.

Even if the Bloodthirster destroys one of the Steam Tanks first, I'd very much trade the Steam Tank for his Bloodthirster.
