So I was wondering who managed to catch this on Dave yesterday. If so whats the general consensus?

I'm sorry to say this but I thought it was absolutely awful. I honestly didn't laugh once, it wasn't even that the jokes were bad, there just plain weren't any jokes. The effects where terrible, I would much rather they just stuck with rubber tentacles and cheap props which was always part of Red Dwarfs appeal. Poor CGI manages to look just plain bad whilst having zero charm.

Some things should be left to die and Red Dwarf is defiantly one of them. If off to watch the first 6 series on DVD to remind myself of just how great this show once was.

Hmm... I don't think it was that bad,,,but it wasn't great.

Seemed really weird without the laughter track though yes ?

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

It is a show that really died when not shot in front of a live audience, Gunmen of the Apocalypse being a very notable exception.

The model work on it was great and CGI in later series really took alot away from the show.

I didn't know that they were bringing it back... off to wikipedia I go.

The 2nd episode was much better ( if perhaps a blatant League of Gentlemen ripoff perhaps). The warhammer reference caused many nasal drink emissions.

To be honest I didn't watch it, such was my disgust at the first. If its much better I'll download it and give it a go.

Compared to the original red dwarf it was terrible, CGI kills the charm of the show. It just reminds me too much of series 7 and 8 (which in my opinion sucked)

I've refrained from watching it due to the fact that the last series or two were terrible anyway, and I didn't want to further sour the memory of a show that I have a gret fondness for.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.
