Ok
Apocalypse game in GW Brighton including over 15000 points of Guardsmen vs multiple SM forces, a large CSM force with many Tyrannid and Tau allies
Objective: Capture the SM character in the tower at the far side of the board. However, the IG were not allowed any vehicles of any sort at the start of the game.
Assets: None

Turn One
There was a great flurry of movement as every guardsmen, over 300 of them charged forward as far as they can into no-mans land. The snipers and krak rockets on the left flank managed to take down a carnifex but otherwise the shooting phase was dismal with only a few marines dying over the whole turn.

The defenders retaliation was however, a brutal assault of over 100 marines smashing into the guard lines. The tyrannids on the left flank slaughtered many guarsdsmen but they managed to hold fast against the onslaught. The poorly defended right flank was smashed by a Dark Angel assault supported by many CSM and SM tactical squads.

Turn Two
More Guardsmen arrived into the fray as the combat became even more bloody. Due to the sheer amount of close combats ont eh board, shooting was completly out of the question apart from a few small squads which managed to kill a few termagaunts but not enough to make a difference. The close combats were joined with even more troops, with Sicarius slaughtering his way through many guardsmen straight through the center of the battlefield.

The defender phase was pretty much the same, Grey Knights teleporting behind the IG lines and wrecking havoc on the heavy weapon teams. More tyrannids arrived in the form of 2 whole genestealer broods and wasted no time in smashing what was left of the left flank defenders. The defenders continued to slaughter the IG with the Dark Angels and Tyrannid flank attacks closing in on Sicarius' center push.

Turn Three
The ground rumbled as heavy armour arrived for the IG in the form on 3 Baneblades, 2 Stormlords, countless Leman Russes and Basilisks and Warhound Number 618 "Infernus". The armoured assault tore great holes in the defenders lines as countless marines and tyrannids were annhilated by the onslaught of ordinance. More guardsmen arrived from reserve and ran for a last-ditch attempt to capture the objective.

The defenders were completly surprised by the armoured assault and wasted no time in targeting the Super-heavies with AT weapons. But Krak rockets, railguns and venom cannons bounced harmlessly off the armour and when the smoke cleared, 1 Baneblade has lost a structure point and Infernus had lost a void shield. The assault was more successful, with terminators managing to destroy the Leman Russ and an Executioner that were escorting Infernus. The Dark Angel assault was severly blunted, with about half of its force cut off from the main assault, trapped between the armoured collums.

Turn Four
The last turn of the game. Every model capable of moving moved straight for the objective. The Baneblades surged on the right flank towards the CSM defenders while Infernus stepped over the wreckage of the escorts with the Stormlords and many Leman Russes following close behind. The shooting phase saw many, many defencers fall to combined ordinance but by the end of the turn, there seemed to be no way to get to the objective.

The defenders assault had been blunted by the armoured interdiction but they still held out, still massacering the guardsmen in the center of the board. A lone terminator survived many ordinance hits and carved his way to the Baneblade on the right flank, tearing it apart with his chainfist.

At the end of Turn Four, the guardsmen were still not even close to the objective and with the defenders still pushing against the sheer mass of guardsmen they were forced to retreat. The objective would hav to wait for another day.

Winners: Defenders (SM, CSM, Tyrannids and Tau)
