Sorry I'm new and picking up an Eldar Army to begin, I hear allot about Eldar Warwalkers and generally like em, but what are their true advantages of sitting in cover, and i'm verifying that a squad of for say guardians can not sit in front of a warwalker and prevent it from being shot at by the enemies, for that is what my budd says and wanna make sure he is not bull ting me...

Check the rulebook for vehicles gaining cover saves. It'll explain in detail how any type of vehicle can gain a cover save. The gist of it is a vehicle has to have 50%+ of its facing obscured from the firing unit in order to gain a cover save. I don't think guardians stand high enough to really give that so it sounds like your buddy is correct.

His buddy was saying that the guardians CAN block LoS to the WW, which is entirely incorrect... in most circumstances. As with ALL LoS issues, the only way to tell if you have a shot is to bend down and get a "model's eye view" to see if the firing unit has a shot.

Guardians are not tall enough to provide a save...Wraithguard on the other hand...

Covering 50% of a vehicle doesn't mean covering "the bottom half". A waralker's main body is held off the ground by spindly little legs. THAT is where the majority of the body is, so if you've got a wraithguard standing in front of each leg, and they stand up to its middle, you aren't blocking 50% of the model, you're just blocking the bottom half - which isn't much.

...which of course encourages cheesy low-slung Walker modeling. Most decent chaps would give you a cover save if the WG were solidly in front of the walker.

cheesy low-slungg walker modelling?
So I either don't allow it, they do extra work, and get rewarded for it, or I just say "sure fine" and they get unfair bonuses for zero work?
Hey, if they want to put the effort into it, sure, but they'll have to. There's no way I'll ever get cover for a rhino from marines, nor a sentinel from guardsmen, so why should they from wraithguard?

For vehicles the rule states that "50% of the facing" must be covered. It does not say that legs and other limbs are not included in this. IMO if both legs are completely covered, that's about 50%.
