Hi there this is my first post here, I was looking for some input. I have neverr been a fan of painting in the GW created color schemes, I find much joy in creatign my own background and characters etc. So I am currently having the time of my life playing orks but I do need to get these guys painted and I have come to a quandrary.

I was originally going to paint them green skin with orange being the accent color for weapon casings and parts of clothes etc but I keep thinking that due to the red paint thing that orange may not be such a good color to use so then I thought of purple or even a different shade of green (similar to some of the npc's on WAR where they are dark skinned with light green armor) and now I am thinking since my current theme is that they are all going to be mad partying orks that maybe similar to bretonnians sort of, they should have a plethora of color upon them any feedback would be great

I say try different schemes on different squads. I always figure Orks are anarchist, and a good waaagh consists of a bunch of small groups of orks getting together to make a green tide. So if the whole army can be different colors it still makes since. Plus, think about how often the command structure changes. Nobs constantly taking down old warbosses or boyz switching clans in a bid to get more combat. Does the new boss buy new clothes and repaint old weapon casings or does an ork just pick up whatever close and useful? Not for nothin.

I actually just started playing myself and only have a few orcs painted. I also went for the orange color scheme. I like it because of the contrast between the green and orange.

I like the idea of having different squads different colors though. I shall be doing that myself now.

why not go for a bright pink or somthing matelic like enchanted blue?

to: the assasin of night Well I am not doing pink for a very simple reason ... I play most of my games with a ton of army guys and I'd much rather not have to deal with the billion and one jokes at my sexuality every single night of my life.

oddly enough purple wont receive the same ludicrous response, just giving that as a reason why i am even thinking of it .

To Gaznab. Go with pink. Just think how bad those army guy would feel if they lose to a pink Ork army. Have you seen the pink butterfly space marine army? Funniest $%#! ever.

Dont skoff at pink orks. Ive seen very few ( I believe one was actually on dakka) that painted their Orks with pink. Not only did it surprisingly look very cool, but it also adds that whole "YA! you got your ass handed to you by pink clothed orks!"

So I am mostly trying to theme my ork army . Currently I am planning to make a orks love to party army / lots of things that fly

so all my fast attack will be absorbed by deffkoptas and in apocalypse i will thrw in fighta bommas

as well my vehicles are going to be setup like they are beach dune buggies etc so originally i was thinkign id name them the blazin choppas but the more i thought of it combined with the orange color scheme i am thinking maybe these guys should be more prone to wearing multi color hawaian shirts ....thoughts and feelings

I went pertty basic on ork colours (except combats )
but so far just on dakka ive seen orks in: brown, blue, red, orange, purple and pink.

Try to google search a colour then orks (Ie: Red orks)
Should turn up some good pics.
