Well I was going to wait till the weekend but after seeing some awesome Vyper conversions I had to start by showing my own. This thread in general will be dedicated to display pictures of my entire Eldar Force, it's not huge, just over 1250 points, only about a third of which is painted, and only 3/4 actually built, but by the time I finish photographing them and uploading em they should be almost finished.
So as I was saying, these were my first major conversion after about 6 years out of the hobby, so they are a bit shoddy and the paint job isn't my best, but I still like the idea. What I wanted to do is give the vypers a bigger wing span, as well as showing them as more of a flying weapons platform, so how better than to use the guardians from the weapons platform! I cut the actual platform in half and atached it to the sides of the falcon. I then glued the old wing spikes onto these, backwards, and tried to clean it up with greenstuff, which was my first time with green stuff
lol! The crew were then put on, one obviously had to be sliced in half and glued to the pilot legs, but the gunner is still standing. I then trimmed off the top of the canopy, and added some 'piping' from guitar strings to the cockpit chair. Finally, to go along with the rest of my army, I made a scenic base using coarse sand and flock and the wood elf dryads sprue!
For the painting, my army is kind of a rogue part of the Ulthwe craftworld. Every craftworld has SOME young and adventures inhabitants, and even Ulthwe is not exempt, these few warriors have left the craftworld in the hopes of settling their own colony, on one of the maiden worlds. But Eldrad (in his younger years before he vanished in to the warp) has seen that one young spell singer (my farseer) has powers that are too strong for him to be left to his own devices. For his own safety, and to bolster the seer councils of Ulthwe, Eldrad set off on a lone mission (accompanied by some adept dire avengers) to bring back this spell singer and his adventurous friends. I have a farseer (obviously) and a unit and a half of pathfinders. I also have the 2 Vypers (as stated) as nothing can be as exciting as piloting one of these babies except maybe war walkers which I also have, 3 of them, considering more! So the paint scheme is generally black and white/bone. The Vypers were initially done as a kind of shimmering black to signify a Holo-field, but seeing as Vypers are now WAY too squishy to be spending points on Holo-fields, I just say the black shine is part of their armor. All my pathfinders (as you will see) have black shiny armor so it's kind of a theme. The snake is not supposed to be a craftworld insignia, actually it's just meant to be a snake, like a Vyper. My units are generally free of craftworld insignia as they have renounced craftworld life.
Anyway, Enjoy! C&C welcome, but remember this is an early (effectively earliest) piece of mine
Also, there will be more more photos of these two, especially a full side by side view, but my GF's camera run out of battery and she can't find the charger
