So quick check for opinions.

Which rule wins?

Look out - Arghhh! (take wounds allocated to commander)

Telion's Eye of Vengeance (shooter allocates his wounds)

Vindicare's Marksman (similar though much older wording)

To me it looks as if the Bodyguards trump Telion's clearly, less sure with Marksman.

What do you all say?

Look out - Arghh! (best rule name ever btw) has the effect of "if a wound allocated against the commander actually wounds him, instead resolve the wound against the bodyguard".

So Tellion/Vindicare is all good, and you can put the wound onto the Officer, but that's all the opponent gets to do. Should the opponent successfully wound the officer, Look out - Arghh! kicks in and the wound is resolved against the Bodyguard.

Yah, its cribbed from one of the second edition Strategy cards (which IIRC was actually "Look out sir! - ARRGGH") which did much the same thing.

I think it would trump only Telion's rule because it simply says wounds allocated to the commander are resolved against the bodyguards, and all Telion gets to do is allocate wounds.

The difference with the vindicare is that he nominates a single model as the target of his attack, rather than a whole unit as is normal, and the special bodyguard rule says "each time the Command Squad is wounded by the enemy".

Maybe I'm not reading it right but that's my interpretation.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

The wording for the Vindicare's "Marksman" rule does seem to indicate that you pick a single model as the target. But even so, that single model is still part of the command squad, so I would think the Look out - Arghh! still works against a Vindicare.

Not to mention it's 3rd edition wording vs 5th edition rules, so perhaps a little leeway is required (of course if you wanna play Strict RaW, that's OK too).

In my opinion however, I would play it that Tellions wounds allow Look Out - Arghh! but the Vindicare's does not, because 1) The rules say so and 2) The Vindicare is just that much more awesome.

It does appear to be a case of "Aha! Your fancy new rules are no match for my antiquated codex!" for the Vindicare's rule.

I agree with GWAR!'s opinon on this, the vindicare deserves some benefit of the doubt since hes supposed to be hardcore. In which case the rule becomes "Look out, oops, nevermind..." when hes about...

On this occasion I'm make do without a comedy picture of something unlikely happening.

Stop Agreeing with me, it makes the Puppies sad!

Still, its nice to see an old codex that does something better than a new one, for once

I predict a lot of allied Inquisitor Lords and Vindicares not too soon from now to pick off Officers

yep, my Dark Eldar Wych Lords find it really quite distressing.
