Hello.
Tomorrow I will be playing a friendly match against an Ork player who for the last three games has mopped the floor with me. It will be pretty decisive and it'll be a long one (3000 pts) he's using at least 2 boomguns maybe some bikers and deffdreds
here is the army list I've devised any help and/or changes are greatly appreciated!
Also we are playing that you can have one extra of each thing on the force organization chart (i.e. 3 hq choices instead of just 2)

HQ: Pedro Kantor 175pts
Cato Sicarius 200pts
Darnath Lysander 200pts or Ursarkar E. Creed 125pts (yeah I know but he said I could field him if I wanted to)

Troops
6xTactical Squads one squad with lascannon and melta bombs the rest with missile launchers and flamers 1020 pts
Scout Squad w/camo cloaks and Telion 220 pts

Elites
2xSternguard Veterans w/10 combi flamers and 10 combi meltas and 4 heavy bolters 620pts
1x drop pod with deathwind missile launcher and locator beacon 65pts

Heavy Support
Land Raider w/ all upgrade except extra armour with Chronus 350 pts
Devastator Squad(5) w/ 4 missile launchers or 4 heavy bolters 150pts

i am not expert, but i think that you should have more different units, not just Tactical squads

you should add dreadnought he is invincible in HTH with orc mob ( after tellion kills his nob with power claw)
i am big fan of thunderfire cannon
you should add rhinos for those squads so you can run or cover yours squads
for devastator squad take razorback

i dont know if this help, beacause you´ll play tomorrow

3 HQ? That's a death sentence in itself...
Drop 2 of them and use the points to fill out your army a bit better, either with a whirlwind (templates of doom on orks) or an AC/HB pred or two
Also, why lascannons against orks? HB are way more effective, and they're free.
How many vehicles does he have? Are melta bombs really necessary?
It seems like an overabundance of sternguard, especially considering for 2 squads you've listed 24 models.
Which land raider variant? Crusader or Redeemer is 10x more effective than the regular against orks, with a lot of horde killing power in its sponsons and main gun.

Thanks for the HQ tip. I think I'll take Kantor(hold the line special rule) and Creed (get to pick which side I'm on)
As for all the anti-vehicle stuff... I'm notoriously bad at rolling for vehicle penetration. I want those trukks dead.period.
on the other hand I'm probably a bit paranoid about it so I'll cut back more.
I know for a fact that he will have the following
Wazzdakka Grotsnik
Ghazzgull Thraka (with upgrades)
Big Mech with Shokk Attack gun
2 boomguns
12 ork boy war bikerz
Deffdred

My biggest fears are 1: His boomguns will decimate my troops
2: In an objective based game his bikerz will quickly make their move and his horde will crush me utterly

As for the Sternuard Veterans that was a typo I meant 8combi flamers and 8combi meltas
Dreadnoughts in HTH? That's true but won't any rocket hits total it?

if any of his orks have a PK theyll rip the dreadnought to shreds aswell, i was using a nob squad, 1 has a power klaw, it was enough to take the dreadnought out in 2 turns, the dreadnought made 2 wounds.... hehe

and as for rokkit hits... your fighting orks, it isnt exactly easy for them to innitially hit :p

dreadnought is killing machine with IC who can choose what to wound ( scout IC) then in HTH drednought is immortal

CRUSHING VICTORY!At the end of turn 7 all he had left were 3 boyz with rokkit launchas! in the the most powerful was the thunderfire cannon, which decimated his lootas and boys with the amazing airburst (ignores CS) heavy 4 shots. I did away with a 3rd HQ choice replacing it with a powered up venerable dreadnought who managed to get a few pot shots off with his lascannon, in turn 5 he was brutally destroyed by Ghazzgul (so much for being great in HTH!) Pedro Kantor's +1 attack bonus is LETHAL against Orks, it was the deciding factor when I assaulted his bikerz. Thank you so much for all your suggestions!
