Is the captain there to make the melta-pod tactical semi-decent in assaults or just a filler? If hes a filler, get a chappy or libarian with some useful powers (and that hood!). Or cassius for a chunky-monkey cheap tough HQ.

Yeah, he's in with the melta squad.

Give the termies some heavy weapons and/or have a devastator squad.

I don't have the models or points for heavy weapons on the termies right now :(

Drop the Powerfist, combi-melta and give the one Termy squad a CML or ASC, CML's are nice for the double blast template a turn or 2 krak missiles. Your better off changing your first tac squad into a sniper scout squad with a tele homer so they can infiltrate and get a better position.

I think you'll be having some really hard time vs hordes and shooty armies.
you need more mobility and aoe.
I'm guessing you are using the first tac to make a run so they get in a good spot to ds the termies.
But it's to risky since they can be put down in a single turn without a transport.

That is part of the plan. The Captain and melta squad DS behind any vehicles/monstrous creatures and then one squad of termies will support them if necessary, two if need be. I'm hoping that Terminators and my Captain will be able to take down hordes and the DS tactics and melta squad are for shooty armies. I would cut my plasma squad down and put them in a Razorback but I don't want to lose the special weapons and I can't any other way to free up points without tampering with my beloved melta/captain/DP combo.

I was hoping that 3 out of 4 of my units Deep Striking would make them more mobile too, if the plasma TS does get taken out I can just put all the termies on my captain's position and CC their way through the enemy.
