So after searching on here, seeing alot of cool conversions, and being bored of having regular old boring models, I decided I want to make some conversions for my eldar. I've always wanted some storm guardians, mainly because I love the way guardians look, I've never encountered someone who uses them, and i think regular guardians are useless.

Anyways I don't like the way the storm guardian models look. I wanted to build on the slightly japanese look of the eldar (its very subtle) and make them look like ninjas. I kinda wanna mix them up and have some have katanas and some have hand claws, and some have pistols and some have the pistol mounted on their wrist (kinda like the autarch on the front of the codex). I've been thinking of ways to do this without using green stuff for everything, since I have never used it yet and am new to conversions.

So basically i'm looking for any suggestions to help me out. One thing i've been interested in is mixing it with dark eldar stuff. I saw someone give them splinter pistols, and I think they look waaaay better than the fat shuriken ones. I might also cut up some of the catapults from the regular guardians and use them for the pistols and wrist guns.

One question, does anyone know what comes on the dark eldar warrior sprue? Is it just the rifles, or do they also come with pistol/CC weapon alternatives?

Because I bought so many boxes of Dire Avengers for my bike army conversions. I'm going to use the Exarch wrist pistol and sword to make up a squad of ten.

What makes the conversion tough is the fact Eldar have a very limited source of bits to work with.

You might find some luck with the Mishima models from the old Warzone game.

wasn't a fan of the mishima models. And i've just never been a fan of guardians because their guns are 12". They will always get charged next turn, and they suck in melee. I'd rather have the extra attack. I prefer all their nifty guns on my war walkers. They were good in 4th with a warlock with conceal to soak up fire, but now everyone just uses the 4+ cover save, so it isn't as useful. I prefer Dire Avengers.

I can't find all my leftover eldar bits, if I do find them i'll probably give that exarch pistol arm to my autarch. I was probably just gonna use alot of greenstuff and give a couple of them like scarves, cloaks, etc, and a variety of swords and stuff. I was mainly just wondering what comes on the dark eldar warrior sprue, I like their pistols and their torsos better than the guardians, im just not sure what it comes with.

You use a squad of 20 to draw in an opponents CC unit then counter charge with your CC monsters.

Wood elves from fantasy work well for cloaks and hoods.

Ive started putting my storm Guardians in a waveserpent with two fusion guns and a warlock it makes either a good tank hunting squad or a good last turn objective grabber!

Skaven Nightrunners have a lot of ninja-style weapons on their sprues.

If you find greenstuff tricky to work with, I could reccomend a fine-woven cloth, painted with thinned down pva-glue. Cut it in thin strips and use it to make ninja-masks, flowing scarfs etc.

I think the DE warriors only come with splinter rifles, plus some bits for a sergeant.

yeah i looked up the DE sprue last night and its only the rifles, so scratch that. Probably just gonna cut up their catapults.

Huh? Do they not have vehicles anymore? I was going to buy a complete war walker (minus weapons of course) for about $19. At least a few weeks ago they had wave serpent stuff.

not a complete wave serpent though. just the guns and falcon stuff. I think they have war walkers, but I already have 3. I need a wave serpent and another fire prism, so they don't have what i need.

So here are some early photos of my storm guardians. I actually have 20 finished, two of them with fusion guns. I just haven't taken pictures yet, as its my gf's camera. I bought a TON of dark eldar infantry, a bunch of which had splinter pistols and CCWs, used from my local game store. So quite a bit of them have DE arms and weapons, a couple have the bodies and legs. I even used one with a head. Oh and one has a greatsword (it was in a bits box, plastic, not sure what it was from), who has a high elf spearman head. I think he looks pretty cool. An odd thing i found when i went to my local gaming stores bits box, there were two fusion guns (without arms attached) made of plastic. I even found an old scorpion chainsword made of plastic, kinda like the one the guy you see below has (hes holding a metal one from one of my old scorpions) Oh and i've been cutting the backpacks off of the regular guardians, I think it makes them more agile looking. The one below that still has his backpack has been cut off, I left the backpacks on the fusion gunners and gave them DE heads. I think it makes them look more......armored.....heavily armed......I don't know, they just look cool.

So not exactly ninjas, but I am going to green stuff some scarves or cloaks or something. I mean this is my first conversion work, so I think its not bad for first time.

Being your first conversion job these look really good. You really have a feeling for doing interesting and lively-looking models while keeping to a pretty tight unit look. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these, including some paint.
