So I've been asked by my
FLGS owner to organize
GW games and get
Apoc going as a steady monthly event. First game was today. Orks vs. Imperium, a rematch of a big mosh 3 weeks ago. They played
Apoc without
Apoc rules, eww. I missed that game, thankfully.
Anyways getting players to commit to today's game was a bit harder than I thought it would be. Seemed like everyone had plans, but we had to start somewhere. 7 players showed who were able to field at least 3000 pts each. Not bad. I thought I might have to play so I threw together some Deffcoptas on a dare, 60 to be exact. I had them from my
AoBR boxes. Very funny to see people's faces when they saw 60 'coptas sitting on table. I had 2 days to get them together. Unfortunately unpainted
Long story short. I set up game with a 6'x8' main table and a 4'x6' side table. Big board was main table with the Y road forks being the Ork side reinforcements entry points. The side board was a snow covered mountain, whole table counted as difficult terrain. On mountain the Imperium held a comm link ruin. This ruin allowed them to call down an orbital strike (
str 8,
ap 4, 10" blast marker) every turn, as long as they controlled ruin. Ork special rule for game, we could bring back 1 destroyed unit per turn, moving it on the board from either of 2 road endings. This may of been too much,
lol. The road in Imperium deployment zone led to base of mountain. Either side could leave one board and go to other by simply leaving by road and missing one full game turn arriving on other board.
Imperium side had a very tank heavy force of 2 Baneblades variants, Hellhammer and Stormsword, 6 vindicators, 10+ Leman Russes, 3 Land Raiders, 40 Guardsmen, Sicarius and chaplain led Vanguard squad, 50 marines, 4 dreads, Callidus assassin, 2 squads of Grey Knights, 7 terminators, 3 hellhounds on main board. Mountain had a 3000 pt Black templar army.
Orks had 2 Stompas, Mek stompa with belly gun (aka Mr. Winkie) and normal Stompa, 4 -15 bike big choppa effcopta squadrons, 3 Green Tides with slugga/choppa boyz and War Boss w/ squig klaw, Battlewagon with some poorly armed Nobz, Battlewagon with fully kitted Nobz, painboy, Ghazkull, 5 lootas, 5 tankbustas, 5 poorly armed Nob bikers, another 5 tankbustas, 10 Nobz and Mek with
KFF in Mek stompa. Mountain had 3000 pt Ork force with 2 looted wagon, battlewagon, 10 Lootas, some boyz and custom build lifta/droppa Stompa. Our Green Tides were weak, no big guns or klaws. Happens!

Time bid.... Imperium 10 minutes....Orks 30 minutes. We wanted to go second. I hit the Jammers,
lol. Silient deployment was funny. They got done with what they wanted on table. We got our whole armies down with 10 minutes to spare. Deployed all 60 Coptas. Nob bikers and squad of tank bustas stayed in reserves. We gave the mountain 1 of our Green Tides and said "take that ruin" Lifta/droppa was reserved because it didn't fit.
Turn 1 Imperium
Mountain.... Some movement and Templars charged Tide with at last 4 units. Big Board.....Some coptas and handful of Orks died. they focused alot of fire on Stompas. Big Mek lost 2 structure, driver damage x2. Regular Stompa also lost 2 structure.

2 formations of Coptas strategically redeployed in a very tight back corner of Imperium deployment zone via "Floor it Boyz".
Apoc barrage 15 hit and pummeled x3 squads of marines, a 10 man vanguard squad, and some guardsman. It was disgusting! Completely demoralized the Space Marine player. Mountain.... 20 minute assault phase.
Turn 2 Imperium
Mountain.... More assault phase pwnage. Big Board..... Stormsword came in behind Ork line and killed a "hot" 3 orks, regular Stompa killed, I lost 40 orks from my Tide to 10 arriving arriving from reserves Leman Russes, some coptas died. Not good for the Emperor's finest.
Turn 2 Orcs
Would you believe what arrived via the long winding road? Why a fresh Stompa. Within 4" on their tricky Stormsword. Coptas did some damage to Hellhammer, My coptas multicharged Hellhammer, 3 squad of guard, Thunderfire cannon. My tide multicharged 4 Russes. Boss killed Exterminator and coptas did little.
Turn 3+ on is all foggy. Sicarius unit got shot up pretty bad. We beat them down to point of quitting. We contolled 4 of 6 objectives on Main board and 1 on Mountain, rest were contested.
