Hi guys. I have a game coming up against an IG vet. However, since the codex is new he claims that I should go easy on him. I have no intention of doing such a thing...he is the reason for my many losses at this game and even killed my leader in our current mordheim campaign (with a single archer in cc...I play skaven).

So onto the details for those who feel sorry for me...It's a small 1k game, I play nids, he claims to be fielding an infantry company. I was originally thinking just pack a load of BS into as many fexes, tyrants and warriors as possible and watch the kill count rack up. However, I feel that this would be slight overkill. Any other suggestions? I'm leaning towards a load of heavies that his infantry should just crumble at the sight of...

We are still trying to figure out how to kill you with our new toys.

I can't be sure what he'd mean by full company.
HQ + 2 platoons is 320 points or so with no upgrades, so it means little.

As an IG player that has taken a lot of time to theorybash the new IG dex, I can tell you that the biggest fear for an infantry heavy IG army facing 'Nids is the hormagaunt horde. If you take a crapload of gaunts, you will run over his gunline pretty easily. Kit the Tyrant/Fexes with the number of venom cannons that you expect to be necessary for keeping his armor 'shook up', and fill the rest with gaunts.

I would strongly advise you not to take genestealers. Their elite close-combatness isn't necessary against crap guard melee, and having fewer models makes you more vulnerable to the armor.

It will be interesting to see if massed lasgun fire w/ FRFSRF! will be able to take bits out of guants.

Well since I play both and have played with the new codex here are a few things to know. First if he takes hvy weapon squads with his infantry platoons open up with venom cannons from a carnifex or hive tyrant on them all you need is a single st6 wound to kill a team off now and with the new order they get to cause them to be twin-linked against monsterious creaturs they can tear you down quick. Second look for his special weapon teams with flamethrowers and demo packs they are wicked against mass nids and are cheap for him to field. Third take out any command squads to prevent any orders. After those guys are gone its just normal squads of s3 ap- guys with an occasional hvy weapon and special weapon .

OC FTW

I agree with Ralzeki. Pop off the leadership and the army crumbles pretty quickly.
And the new leadership will die like fish without much effort

Thanks for the advice guys. I had the game yesterday and we got kill points. In the end I went with multiple heavies (a boomfex, a seriously tooled up cc fex, tyrant w/ guard and a flyrant) and a few gaunts. It started with me punishing him early (he put 50 men into 1 squad) with my BS then my T7 fex got into cc. He hadn't taken any PFs so I got stuck in combat for a couple of turns then he fled. The rest was just clean up...I think he made a mistake of only including meltas to take out heavy threats that can cripple him in cc (wraithlord and fexes are the most obvious).

We had another game after using a tank based force (a punisher, hellhound, 2 LR, 2 chimeras and the minimum troops allowance). I also changed my force to have 2 gunfexes instead of a cc fex. A bit tougher and it ended in a draw (capture and control).

It was interesting how IG have changed with the new orders. Makes lasfire a lot more dangerous to MCs that aren't T7.
