Does anyone know if the weapons and war gear rule book is all legit/accurate??

I think there's only one or two armies it still works for.
The rest are all superseded by new codices.

When it was new, while it was "the newest" version of the stuff, not enough people bothered with it - and so it never really gained a wide enough acceptance.

So, no.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

In fact, the entire wargear book is now bunk.

The wargear book existed back in 4th edition when GW's mindset was to try to codify all the rules for the different codexes into a single version.

They obviously changed their minds (or realized this is way to hard to achieve) and so in 5th edition they've reversed this ideal and they now say that whatever wording you have in your codex is king, even if it is slightly different from the wording for a similar rule in another codex (see the GW rulebook FAQ for details).

Plus, most of the entries in that book are now outdated as new codexes have been released since that book was published.

So in short, don't buy (or look at) the Wargear book unless you want to confuse yourself!

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?

yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!
