Hi
I am running CSM mechanized army. (4 rhinos with Plague marines, LR with termies and a Vindi).
I also have 4 Oblits that I want to DS. The question is:
Can I use the personal icon when the champ is still in the rhino?
If I can, from where do I measure the 6" that I am allowed to place the Oblits? From the hull? From the centre of the rhino?

Doesn't the FAQ say, "No"?

Page 81 of Codex: Chaos Space Marines, the codex specifically mentions units inside transports with personal Icons. You measure from the hull though when vehicles are involved.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

This codex came out right after the infamous "when you're in transport you don't exist" FAQ answer. It was funny to see that they did in fact exist a week later...lol

Speaking as a primarily Eldar player. That FAQ'd up answer is the dumbest rule they made and then got rid of since I started playing.

I think I'd give that honour, wishfully thinking of course, to Kill Points.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

To be fair, it was never intended as a "rule" persay. People just took it way too far/literally. The gist of it was that the squad could not do anything but it got interpreted into "they don't exist!!!!!"

Since this thread has gone totally off kilter, I agree that Kill Points is the worst rule GW have come up with in a long while. Somehow my 35 Point Rhino is worth the same as 690 Points of Leman Russes? Yeeeeeeah....
