I was thinking about this on my run this morning, and what at first appeared to be a worthless tank now looks to be really good with Pask.

The punshier + heavy bolters + pask is 250 points, not cheap, but he can do a lot.

With his special rules he will drop a bloodthrister in one volley. They cost the same points. With a mystic this means that a deepstirking army is going to get mauled if they land near the tank. He just punishes Monstrous creatures with his rerolling of failed wound rolls and the sheer volume of fire he puts out. He will drop a dakka fex a volley or a hive tyant, the avatar, etc.

Against a 10 man MEQ squad, he puts out about 13 wounds. That means you should drop a valuable weapon or sarge every time.

He will also shred light vehicles (Av12 and lower) because he is putting out 29 str 6 shots at BS4. That means against a Rhino he should get 3 punches and 3 glances. Statistically, that is a dead Rhino.

The downsides are the cost, the short range and the lack of mobility. I want to play test this combo to see how it actually plays.

I am thinking that a hard core for my IG army might consist of an executioner and a punisher with pask. That is 500 points but those two tanks bring some serious pain. You fill out the rest as you like, but those two will really put a hurting on any army in the game.

What say Dakka?

I'd try it. To me Pask only sounds good when he rides a Punisher.

Shameless plug for a very similar thread I started a few days ago.

Against infantry, I can see Pask being viable. But against AV 12, not so much. The Punisher is AP-, meaning it will need a roll of 4+ to do anything more than smudge the paint. That is about 1 in 20 shots. Two Hydra's are better, and MUCH cheaper.

No problem, I think it might have drifted off the first page.

Well, by my math it hits 19.314 times, which is 3.22 glances which should result in at least a stunned result, and 50% of the time a weapon destroyed.

You make a good point though, and I'm not saying its the best thing ever for that role, just that it is a lot more useful than it would appear at first glance. The main thing I see is for killing infantry and MCs. This tank just destroys them. An average of 4 wounds against a tough 6 MC with a 3+ save. MC's have always been difficult for guard, at least my guard anyway.

19.314 hits results in about 11 wounds against a toughness 6 critter, and about 15 against a toughness 5. That just plasters Daemon Princes, most greater daemons, TMC's, avatars, etc. Even a Wraithlord will take about 6 wounds, leaving an average of 2 unsaved. The best thing is that it wont matter if they are in cover or not.

We will see. I want to like the tank because it will look so cool! But often, things on paper don't always perform as well on the table.
