Wanting to do a desert themed army. I would like to paint my armored vehicles similar to the American armor currently deployed in Iraq and Afganistan. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
|
Take advantage of an unarmed foe? Of course, those are the best kind. |

I assume you mean something like this:

If so, that seems pretty straight forward color matching. Prime white and then paint the base color. Add battle scarring and done

Yea, thats what I'm looking for. But I'm looking at doing alot of detail work (washes, glazes etc.), I don't want to just match color and paint a monotone model. What I'm looking for is more of a tutorial on super detailing with washes etc. on desert vehicles.

umm I'm not sure how much help this will be, but I have a few ideas. You see, I run a desert themed Tallarn IG army. I also did a dip army which works fantastic for desert themes. for my guard I used the following. As a base I undercoated skull white, as allot of the thinner browns tend to bleed on black and you have to use multiple coats. for the cloth/armor I used a a clean coat of bleached bone, with snakebite leather boot/pouches and denab stone for shoulder pads/pants to give it a little of a camouflage look. I mean you dont need much more than base coats when it comes to dipping. I didn't have the time to paint 130 + guys to great detail so I found this the best way. I'm not sure how it this would look with power armor, because tallarn models have lots of recesses in the cloth to catch the dip. As for how to dip there is a great article in this forum on it. Hope this is a little helpful.
