Im working on my Bloodletters of Khorne right now, and i have 2 Icons of Chaos. Ive already got bases on all of my Bloodletters due to the campaign Im in. The two minis with the icons were too top heavy and they kept falling over. My brother told me that gluing nickels under the bases works wonders, so I did that. The mini with the plastic icon stands up perfectly, but on the second one, I used an awesome bit (graciously donated from my step brother) that was from an old Champion of Khorne, and its solid metal. Even with the nickel under the base, it still wont stand up at all. Im getting desperate for a solution to add more weight so that I can field him this Friday. All input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Lead shot or fishing weights pounded flat and/or heated, shaped to fit. It's about as heavy as you can get without using gold or depleted uranium. Or possibly a larger base with the lead shot.

Oh! You can actually get very tiny bird shot and just glue it all it as well! No pounding.

...and you're welcome.

Wrong forum.

You might consider an easier and cheaper alternative. Go to a hardware store and get some simple 1in wide washers. Glue one or two onto the bottom instead of the nickel. They are heavier and perfectly flat, providing more stability. If needed you san still get some very small fishing weights and glue them in a stock on the top. Just cver over the weights with plaster/putty/clay and paint as a rock. Imprint some chaos icons on it for added coolness. Edit moved to modeling.

What they said. I usually start off with the coin in the base, but if you need heavier than that, you might have to go the washer route and accept that your base will just be a tad higher than everyone elses. Just blend the seam with a little bit of putty and you should be good to go.

Personally, Id have gone with the depleted uranium...

Bits of flash metal etc have worked for me before. maybe move the model around on the base to get the centre of gravity right?
