Bounding Assault Marine

Dark Eldar Codex under the special rules section "Fleet of Foot: The Dark Eldar are a lithe and agile race, noted for their fleetness of foot. In the shooting phase, you may declare a dark eldar is going to run instead of shoot. Roll a D6. The result is the distance the unit may move in the shooting phase. This movement is not affect by difficult terrain or any other movement restrictions."

5th Edition Rule book pg.33 "Units are not allowed to assault if: they are already locked in close combat, they ran in the shooting phase ..... "

So does this really mean that Dark Eldar Fleet of Foot rule is for nothing since it is a codex rule instead an universal rule?

I belive that if you have Fleet of Foot it allows you to assult after you run or "fleet" as per your codex. Remember Codex trumps BGB.

From the GW Errata:

Page 4, Special Rules, Fleet of Foot. The entire
entry should be replaced with the following:
‘As normal, all models in a Dark Eldar army may
run, except for vehicles and models mounted on
jetbikes. The following models have the Fleet of
Foot special rule: all Lords, Wych Lords and
Haemonculi (except when equipped with Hellion
Skyboards or jetbikes), Warriors, Mandrakes,
Wyches, Warp Beasts and Beastmasters.’

So there's no need to worry about DE Fleet because it was subsumed into the regular rules.

They fleeted, they didn't run.

So they can assault away!

IMO run has nerfed fleet a little bit. Sure you can assault after it (and my banshees love the fleet rule), but units that I don't want to assault with (70% of Eldar infantry), I tend to use Fleet for running into obvjectives, or ducking into cover.
Now run is a USR, I feel like I've lost a great strength my army used to have.

You have. I had the same issue with my Genestealers when 'Run' became available for everyone and their brothers. When rumors of it happened just prior to 5th coming out I thought to myself, "Ok, this isn't so bad. I always felt like a game based on ground troops should have a little more ground troop maneuverability. Surely they'll change Fleet into something like roll 2d6 and take the highest, that way Fleet still means something."

Yeah... that didn't happen.

Because it is rarely an issue.

As a Nid player, I don't really care if the enemy has fleet, they will either 1) not be able to shoot me or 2) be running even closer to me. Either way, I am a happy guy.

Until they make a 33" assault into your sniperfex with agonizer armed wyches?

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

As already stated, the Dark Eldar codex has received Errata bringing Fleet of Foot in line with the Rulebook Version.

The errata can be found Here for every army (except Daemons, they don't get one) and are essential for pretty much every codex, even the new ones like Marines (there's some pretty big effect changing errata in that one) or middle aged ones like Orks (Half their codex is errata tbfh)
