I'm playing my first game with Epic Krueger next week (750 no restrictions) and I have no idea what his rules are. Does anyone have any tips for spell use, synergy and good units and beasts to take.

I would be interested in how units that were popular with P-Krueger play with E-Krueger such as Woldwardens and Gatormen.

I won't tell you what I'm playing against because I'm not interested in meta-ing against my opponent but he's using a caster he's used a few times before.

Do you think I'll get any use out of it with just four Ravagers?

Maybe. Storm Wall helps protect against ranged attacks so you can probably make it into melee relatively unscathed. MAT 7 is pretty good. If you want to add to the unit, I'd get a Shaman before filling out the squad.

Woldwardens still have their place with eKrueger, but they aren't as important as they used to be. Lightning Storm and Rag Doll aren't the most spammable of spells, but I won't say no to a free 3" AOE that does POW 10 to models that enter it.

Gatormen also aren't as helpful for eKrueger. Forked Lightning is an efficient way of spreading a little damage on multiple models so the Gators would benefit from their Blood Crazed ability, and Lightning Tendrils increases the threat range of the whole unit. Now you have Wind Blown that only affects one model and Lightning Storm that when cast is only POW 7 to the secondary targets. You could put down a swamp and push a few models into it with Rag Doll/Hurricane/Wind Strike, I suppose.

Honestly, I think the most important unit eKrueger can take is Druids + UA. eKrueger has Storm Wall to protect you against ranged attacks, so take Druids and now they can't spell you either. Then they have Wind Strike so you can constantly mess with your opponent's models with this, repeated castings of Rag Doll, and Hurricane.

Some people suggest taking a Woldwatcher or Argus to try to take advantage of Consume Vitality and Electro Leap, but eKrueger really shouldn't be messing around in melee. I think the beasts that suit him best are the Woldwyrd (just because they're that good) and the Gnarlhorn (Counter Slam keeps ranged models in Storm Wall from getting close enough to shoot you).

Those are my thoughts on him, but I haven't had a chance to use him either.

Thanks Oomie, plenty of interesting tips there.

I only have four Ravagers and I'm not so keen on buying any more (or the UA, White Mane) until they prove themselves in battle. I was thinking about investing in Prof. Pendrake at the weekend as he seems to be far better than Saxon Orik and could be genuinely useful (unlike Orik).

So far my list looks like this:

Krueger the Stormlord
Woldwyrd
Gnarlhorn Satyr
Woldwarden
Alten Ashley
Prof. Viktor Pendrake
Druids of Orboros & Overseer
Tharn Ravagers (4)
Tharn Wolf Riders (4)
Sentry Stone
Farrow Bone Grinders (4)

746/750

I worry that it feels a little small, I feel naked without my Gatormen. I'll lay it all out on the table tonight to see how it looks.

I'd recommend that you at least proxy the Ravager UA for a few games. He can really help the unit.

Consider having the Shaman eat one of your Bone Grinders on turn 1. That will allow your entire unit get their extra attacks at least once, even against Cryx, and all for a cheap 6 points.

I won the last battle, my opponent claimed it was due to a well placed wood. I'd say it was down to Krueger 'Rag dolling' his Warbeasts into perfect kill positions and slaughtering them with a little dismembering help from Pendrake. Druids turning off his magical attack capabilities helped too.

I'm having a rematch tonight with a modified list, I'll let you know how it goes.
