Hi,

So, I recently started playing tau, and have run into a question that has probably been asked/answered many times before:

-Normally after deepstriking, you cannot move, unless you have a special rule saying otherwise.
-Jumppack troops are allowed an extra 6" jump move after shooting (for tau, at least)

Can they do this after deepstriking? Obviously I'm thinking of stealth suits and crisis suits.

Thanks!!!

Yes.

You can run instead of shoot after Deep Striking now...so everyone can move.

For tau you blast whatever is nearby and then jump your 6 inches to try to get some cover/distance between your enemy and you.

Actually, this is incorrect. Tau Crisis Suits and Stealth Suits both have an explicit rule stated in the Codex that they cannot use their 6 inch assault move after deep striking.

What he said. And just for completeness, it's on Page 27 under "XV88 Battlesuits". And don't forget that if you run you can still move the 6" Jet pack thingy, so long as you are not assaulting (since the rules for jet packs say you may "always move 6" in the assault phase" which is not Assaulting [Making an Assault Move])

In general, jet packers (including gun drones) are allowed to use their assault move after a deep strike because it's not disallowed, but crisis suits and stealthsuits have specific wording that says they don't.

And Running definitely does NOT prevent you from using your jet pack assault move - you get the extra move "even if you don't assault", and Running doesn't change that.

Interestingly, a deep striking unit of Gun Drones can move in the assault phase after they deep strike, because the TE Codex forgot to say they can't like they did with Battlesuits.

Well perhaps it was intended, considering gun drones are pretty useless anyway
