Hi, I am fairly new to Warhammer 40k (started late last year) and I have decided to start a Black Legion Chaos Space Marine army. I want to construct a fun list just to play against friends of mine (they play as Tyranid, IG, Space Marines and Orks). I wondered if any players would be able to give me some advice and/or constructive criticism on my list.

Chaos Terminator Lord
Terminator armour
Mark of Khorne
Combi-melta
Chainfist

Demon Prince
Mark of Slaanesh
Lash of Submission
Warptime

10 Chaos Space Marines , Aspiring Champion with Power weapon
Icon of Chaos Glory

10 Khorne Beserkers , Skull Champion with Power weapon

10 Plague Marines, Plague Champion with Power Weapon

3 Obliterators

Land Raider

Would this a good list to deal with both the Space Marines and Horde armies I will be facing? and would a squad of Terminators be a good investment? If there is anything that I can add or remove I would appreciate any feedback you guys can offer.

Thanks

This list has the flavor of a black legion army but is in dire need of min/maxing if you want to be competitive.

It looks like you'll have troops getting lashed and blown to bits while zerkers rush forward in the LR. Is that right?
I think you may want some power fists in there for tougher opponents, MC, etc. Are you relying on the oblits to take out groups of troops and tanks? To me that is putting a lot of pressure on one unit that can only choose to fire at a single target per turn, ya know what i mean. If you fit in one more oblit then you can have two squads of two... it might be helpful. Find the points by replacing the plague marines for another undivided tac.

to be totally honest i am not a huge fan of the lone termi lord... i'm not really sure of his purpose. Or was he your other tank buster?

Read other threads about new CSM players and their lists for 1750 and below. I think you'll get an idea of what people are preaching as most effective lists for winning games.

good luck

G'day! If your up against SM, IG, Tyranids and Orks, consider the rhino + 9 thousand sons and sorcerer. with inferno bolts being AP3 they are designed to be dangerous to SM's, can lay down heaps of fire on the move for taking out hordes (although they will need the Zerker's supporting them once the tide hits!).

I like the sorcerer for Bolt of change (a bit of anti tank in your anti infantry unit) - st 8 on a BS4 model is sweet.

Lose the terminator lord and spend the points on a chaos sorcerer with slannesshi lash combo. with the two slaneshi lashes you will dominate where the action happens (its also cheesy - be warned youre mates may justifiably sulk).

The lashes are great for big templates too - find a vindicator or defiler (whichever model you prefer) for some pie-plate of doom! Given your opponents, the defiler would deal with most of the troops with no armour save (SM excepted). Also love them against tyranids - quite a few of their ranged weapons struggle to do more than glance a vehicle - and when you ignore shaken/stunned, you only get stung on a damage roll of 5 or 6. Even then, you loose a weapon and keep on coming.

ah... wings on the DP are great if you can afford it, and consider a fast option. I like bikes against IG, as they are reluctant to get into CC, and you get a 3+ cover save after turbo boosting. or equip them for tank hunting.

good luck!

(oh - and check out this tactica - its golden! : http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Tactica_Chaos_Space_Marines_%285th_ed%29
