Hi there,

For those of you that dont know me... its for the best, im weird. Me and my brother, who you may well know as the assasin of night, are starting a "strictly" small time commisioning service. By this i mean that im not going to paint up your 2000pt army... Buuuut i will happily paint up vheicles (spelt wrong) squads, single units. Now, qualty, ill show you some pictures below but i think its gone past the tabletop but its not quite lining the display case. Some where in the middle. Below are some pictures of past and ongoing work. the pictures start with the oldest and come through to he newest (which is very much a wip and being sold on ebay)

and the current WIP

Right, so theres some samples, firstly, tell me if there worth selling or if you would ever send a squad to be painted to that standard.
Prices too are a WIP, still figuring out stuff like, if i buy and assemble and paint, if you send, whether its assembled blah blah etc...
Ill definatley be posting back with the final pricing malarkie and the ebay auction for that inquisitor. (its my first inquisitor)
Also, if you can help with the prices, let me or the assasin know, hes the one with the money so, probably him.

Thanks for reading.

Oscar.

As with pretty much all of the other recent posters offering painting services, your pictures aren't doing you any favours. Too dark, and several are a little out of focus.

Your painting looks to be relatively neat, but that's about the best that can be said from those photos, since it's just about impossible to make out any detail.

I would recommend that you do a search on photographing minis, and/or building a lightbox. A few minutes work can make all the difference to your prices when you're trying to sell your work.

Judging from the shadow casted by your minis, i say the light is directly over your mini.

You need to take the pic in the same way you light up your figure while you are painting it.

Also make sure another light source ( your window) is never photographed behind your mini.

wow! those pictures really help. By the way, i generally dont use any other light rather than natural light or the main light in my kitchen. So, how exactly do i get good pictures with a light box, i have a very makeshift light box ready to go.

Hi Oscar,

You should have some light hitting the front of the model directly, preferably from two different light sources. It is also good to have some light from the sides (but not a direct source from behind that will glare in the shot).

The idea is to avoid shadows and light up the surfaces that you're trying to photograph. Personally, to me the term "lightbox" sounds rather intimidating. I think of it rather like the guy on the painting and modelling forum who started making scratch builds from for-sale signs- which are the exact same material as plasticard

Somehow, it sounds less intimidating and more accessible to the rest of us

So, get all the bright lights you can, array them around where you want to take your picture, and experiment . I've also found that flash is not good as it changes the look of the colors. I'd also suggest a nice white piece of something for a background to make it look more professional

Great painting, if your rates are low I bet someone will be taking you up on it! I can also see your improvement from the beginning to end, which is good. For painting feedback, I'd suggest painting a wash on the skin and probably the cloak of that inquisitor

OKAYDOKEY!

some GUIDE PRICES are here, ive looked at some other UK painting services and have decided that for the quality that i paint, these will be the prices:

Normal 25mm - £2.50
Character 25mm and 40mm normal - meh, all characters are different around £3.50-£4 (probably a little less)
Bikes and Beasts - WIP same(ish) as characters
Characters 40mm - add a pound on to a 25mm character.
Vehicles - depending on size - £6 - £20
squads - discounted from 25mm price meh, squad of 10 - £15
other - ask me

uuuum... if these prices are too much (or too little :S) let me know. nothing is set in stone. Ill also run ebay auctions. If you want me to assemble I will for a little more. Also, with all of the above categories there is nothing set in stone, for example, a grot is not £2.50 its probably more 1.25 or something, whereas a vanguard veteran would probably be a bit more, maybe 3.25. You get where im coming from (i hope)

better pictures are on the way (hopefully)
Thanks all.

Oscar.

P.S. I will accept and order any time. (no armies)

Oscar, cool mini or not has some guides on photography and building a light box. Love them , for tabletop they are excellent but overseas adds another cost to the minis.

Thanks.

Why the double "mini", if I may ask It's kind of catchy, but kind of confusing too (I thought it was a typo at first!).

Cool that you could whip up a site (even still wip) that fast!

sorry to triple post, but im open to orders as from now. I must stress once again that an order is not an army, just a couple of bits and bobs, i havent got the painting speed to paint an army.

Thanks.

Oscar.

P..S. just looked at my site, return times are debaitable, for the time being just PM me or use the contact us page on my site and we will discuss such things further.

sorry to bring this back from near death, but we are still open for business, we just seem to have been lost in a sudden rustle of similar things.
