so is everyone sure the weapons and war gear rule book is not legit?. I mean most things in there are the same but there are some definite differences?
it was published in 2005

No, most of it is wrong now. Just ignore it.

All the reference you need is in the back of the 5th ed Rulebook, although Space Marines and Imperial Guard are outdated as of now.

It was a good idea at the time, but it was never widely accepted (putting a statement in the front that it included the most up to date rules wasn't enough for many people to accept it as an official rules source) and without being updated quickly became obsolete as armies were redone.

The 3+ terminator armor save didn't help either.

Apparently, they were cutting and pasting from second edition (which was a 3+ save on 2d6). Not a good sign.

I suppose it was inevitable that someone would bring that up. Because, you know, a single summary error makes the entire book useless...

The eye of terror.

I never had the book, but I remember that it created some rules debates at my local shop because there were more errors than just that one, and some players tried to use it to their advantage by saying that the rules in that book over-rode the codex rules.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Ah typos are typos, i've still never quite worked out what a tyranid "Flehborer" is in my copy of the Nid Book

It was a good book, used it for 2 Tourny seasons then it was outdated, it was always handy to have so you can check up on your opponents army stats whilst he was doing his movement just encase you've forgotten a units special rule etc.

When you give total control to a computer, it’s only a matter of time before it pulls a Skynet on you and you’re running for your life.

Yup, there were quite a few errors. I compiled a list of them on my website.

It just alwasy struck me as funny that the Terminator Armour summary thing is the one error that people kept holding up as proof that the book was useless, despite GW's constant mess-ups of summaries in pretty much every book they've ever printed.

It did. Along with the errors, it included a large number of updates, compiled from FAQs on the now-defunct GW forums.
