Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out the best way to represent tanks that have been wrecked and destroyed.
I've been just using a die placed on top of the tank with either a 5 or a 6 to represent what happened to it, but
it kinda detracts from the game just having a perfectly set tank still on the board. I'd like to have actual terrain pieces
besides like a crater to represent the wreckage without cutting up a $40 tank though.
Now, I've seen people wrap tin foil around a sentinel to make the shape, then base and paint it. I dunno if that'd work
on a Chimera or a Leman Russ though.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i am used to either turning over the turret of the tank, or if there is no turret, turning the entire tank over.

I also remember from older white dwarf battle reports, seeing wrecked tanks getting a cotton ball painted like fire put up on top.

Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.

How would you go about making those markers?.. any ideas?

Maybe spray painting some stretched out cotton wool on a base of some sort?

Too many armies to count now.. mainly all 40k and AoS

I can rember in the one WD they used cotton wool to represent smoke.Yet its a shame FW doesn't make wrecked tanks, that would be awesome as I love the wrecked chimera they make.

Heres the link just for those intrested:

I never glued the top half of my chimera chassis, mainly cause i was still working on the interior, But this lets me just yank the top off and throw on a cotton smoke column. or even stream the smoke up around the upper hull...
you could always kind make a burned out russ shell out of plastic card stock and some spare track treads...just enough to get the ideal across...

You could get a cheap tank off ebay and wreck it.

Alrighty, well it sounds like the cotton smoke/fire markers will work the best.

Yeah, the best way to make your cotton smoke look blackish/oily is to dip your cotton into very watered-down black paint, and let it dry. Old FOW gamers used to do this for their tanks all the time.
