I have toyed with the three for a while, and I had nearly written the redeemer off. I recently ran one vs. ork hordes with my hybrid drop pod list, and found a combination that made it a killing machine.
I run a 5 man scout squad with 3 snipers, a heavy bolter, and Telion. I rolled the redeemer up a flank and hammered on a 30 squad with the autocannons and flamestorms, and popped the nob with Telion. The Terminators mopped up and I repeated the process. As long as I had Telion to drop the nob (not hard at all) I could wipe the mobs up. I "ran" from the warboss and nobs for 4 turns, killing 2 mobs in the process. When they finally caught up to the land raider, I had softened them up and the terminators made short work of them.

I am going to do more experimenting with it, as it is wicked against troops in cover and hordes.

How do you guys use it?

I feel that it only works against hordes really.

But then I think, "Oh hurricane bolters, are just bolters."

And then I look at the space marine slaying, light vehicle killing flamers of doom and have second thoughts.

I feel as if the land raider redeemer is largely untested as of now. The crusader is the old standby.

In the end it comes down to weather or not you can get both flamers in range (two different squads if need be ala machine spirit) in a game enough to be effective, which may be difficult if your oppenent avoids raiders (I know mine do).

10 less points and you have a roving MEQ baker. I've said it in a few other threads, but I wouldn't give up my Redeemer. I'm actually thiknking about adding another to my list.

To answer your actual question, I use mine to get He'stan and his SS/TH termies to the front line as well as mobile cover. I try to position the tank so I can drop a couple models out the front, and the rest out one of the sides and still get a charge off along with 1 of the templates. If I'm lucky, they can consolidate into a semblance of cover behind the tank, ready to hop back in on my next turn. If they don't win the combat immediately, I have the Redeemer wander around torching whatever it can.

I start by using my land raider with my left hand. If the opponent is good enough to push me, well, I'm not left handed.

I prefer the LRC, because I feel that all LRs are Termie transports first and gunboats second...and nothing compares to the LRC for transporting assault termies+ICs, due to its transport capacity.

I have seen or used all three variants and here are my thoughts.

Land Raider - Still surprisingly effective as a long range tank. Unlike the other variants, you are not reliant to get up close and personal with it. A common tactic I have seen is to stick a Tactical Squad in it and just sit on the home field objective. It's surprisingly effective, especially if the rest of your army is more agressive and can take some pressure of this tank.

Land Raider Reedemer - This is by far the most destructive variant but suffers from the limited range of it's guns. If you know you have a unit you need to get up close (namely assault terminators) you can't go wrong. It's cannons are amazing at roasting most infantry targets, even Nob Bikers (especially fun if you take a Librarian with Null Zone, then follow the roasting with an Assault Terminator charge).

Land Raider Crusader - Honestly, I still feel this is the best deal. Even though the Hurricane Bolters are not as destructive as the cannons on the Reedemer, you have a much longer range with them and they are defensive weapons. The Crusader is one of the only tanks in the game that can fire all it's guns whilst moving 6". With the Multi-melta (and there is no reason not to take it) you can hit a tank and hurt an infantry squad at the same time.

Of course with Land Raiders, I always give them the Multi-melta and Extra Armor upgrade. I have been meaning to try the Chronos Upgrade on a Crusader, basically because I like the concept of the character and the Crusader, I feel, is where he is most effective.

I've been experimenting with a 2 Redeemer list for the past few weeks, with interesting results. I'm finding that the need to close into assault range means that I'm putting my tanks into melta/Dreadnought range. Yes, I can still move 12", pop out my assaulty squad, roast an enemy unit, and then assault for the win; yet everyone is ready for that these days and can pop a 'Raider before it gets into assault range. Rolling two 'Raiders means that one will get to the other side of the board, which is the same way as saying that one will not get to the other side of the board.

I'm still working on tactics for their use, but at this point I'm willing to say that a standard 'Raider is still the best overall at being either a Tank or a Transport, while the Crusader is the best at the Transport department. Where the Redeemer fits in is looking more to me to be an Assault Tank first and an Assault Transport second.

I'm still gaming out some test lists, just to see what works for me and what doesn't.
